Imposed Holiday Tomorrow
...Thus, today is essentially my Friday and it is hard to concentrate. That, plus I technically only have to work 2 more hours to be done with my work week. Am I going to leave in 2 hours? No. Too much crap to do and I have a meeting in the afternoon. Therefore, I do not feel bad about taking a break right now. If I'm going to stay more than my allotted hours, then I may as well take it easy.
I have to say that as stressed as I am right now, at least I'm getting recognized for the work I'm doing. It's really encouraging when I hear that others have spoken highly of me to my boss...of course that also stresses me out a bit because now I feel like I absolutely cannot fail. What also cracks me up are my co-workers. The other day, one of my co-workers brought this in:
How funny is that? We immediately assembled it and engaged in some friendly combats. What's funny is that it's not just us younger folks playing this - some of the senior engineers were playing it too! I think that if your company won't invest in a gym or even a punching bag to relieve the stress, something like that would do just fine.
Another incident that happened at work yesterday was during one (of many) of the meetings I had to support. I didn't have time to eat so I brought lunch to one of the meetings and I tried to quietly eat. Unfortunately, there was this big chunk of broccoli that I didn't feel comfortable just shoving in my mouth, so I tried to cut it with my plastic fork when suddenly..*snap!* The fork broke. Right when our program manager was talking. Of course. Thankfully, he didn't notice, but my boss, who was sitting right next to me, certainly did. Oops...;P
Another work-related thing - I'm going to Virginia next week (yay!) to give a briefing I've never given before (boo!), but I want to look at this as an opportunity to meet people (potential future job?) and explore a bit. I'm nervous as hell about it, but I'm sure I'll do fine. Right? =/
Other news, I am determined to buy a tv stand and sofa table this week! I feel like I found a good deal and I want to bring my temporary tv in so I can watch DVDs at least! Damn, I'm good at spending money! ;P
