I think I hate my students. I can't say it for all of them. I mean there are those who are quite smart and try, but still. Today they didn't do the 6 page reading assignment I gave them and said they can't do work over Ramadan. (They had a week.) The other teachers said this was crap and they were lying too me (Not that I believed not eating

sounds really awful :( Maybe it's like it's like those "mis maddigan' or "miss mason" or something kid's stories, where this class has a really nice teacher that they dont' listen to or anything. they throw spit balls etc. and then one day she goes missing, very mysterious-like. and an afwful mean substitute comes in and makes them do all kinds of bad things, so they start a quest to find their nice teacher again who they now realize is great. and at the end of the bookyou find out that mss.nice-teacher was reallly just dressing up as the evil substitute. so you could try that.

did that random story make any sense? I dind't think so. maybe I will try to find this book so i can make sure i'm not crazy.

anyway. it sounds like you're giving them really easy assignments that they should be able to do...so that sucks a lot that they think they can take advantage of you just 'cause you're volunteering. maybe teaching is this hard everywhere in underpriviliaged schools? especially in indonesia?
*sigh*
hope things start to look up...maybe something will get their attention soon.

Yes that story makes tons of sense and it is a grad idea.
