Editing is Hard

So...I'm slowly working on editing my demon at a science fiction convention novel.  (Mostly just in that...IDK. I want it done and finished and clean so that I can submit it until it's rejected everywhere and accept that it is doomed and work on other stuff.  I know that sounds stupid, but I don't care.  I won't be content until it is done and has been properly killed.)

Anyhow, it's just...bone crushing.  Like, there are so many problems, and I fix one plot string, but then there are like a dozen other things I need to fix along with it.  And there's more than one plot point that is broken.  And while some of the stuff I know I need to fix is pretty typical for me (sort of vague description, etc.), having to fix so much of it all at once is painful.  Like...it just keeps going and going and going.  *cries*

I suppose that as a positive, it's still really short, which means that I can add a lot when need be.  But, wow...the novel is a freaking easy novel to write. There are only a few characters.  It's set in the real world. The plot is pretty simple. And it's still such a PITA to try to edit it into something resembling a coherent story.  I don't even want to think how brutal the other stuff I have planned are going to be.  (As most of them will both be a lot longer, but also take place in different worlds and IDEK.)

(Then again, I suppose that this makes it an ideal practice novel. I mean, if I can't get this into semi-decent shape, I don't have a prayer of making any of the others work.)
