I was in Vancouver, B.C. this weekend for a Halloween party and on Monday stumbled across Seth Rogan filming downtown! My first thought was, "Omg movie star!" followed quickly by "Omg ONTD post!"
I was across the street from the film crew. They were setting up a shot and had the streets leading up to the intersection shut down by the police.
One of the film engineers was nearby and saw me taking pictures and asked if I was any good with a camera. I told him that I'm pretty terrible with taking pictures. "So... are you paparazzi?" he asked. I had no idea what he was talking about so he winked and said, "Here's an insider tip: There's someone famous across the street there in the white cap."
My boyfriend was already talking to another crew member and he turned to ask me, "Who's Seth Rogen?" I was all, "I DON'T KNOW YOU RIGHT NOW. WHERE IS HE? I LOVE KNOCKED UP."
He's in the white cap. Looking great, Seth! I love my zoom lens.
The crew was mostly hanging out and chatting while lining up a shot. Seth was in the back with coffee. I wish I could have screamed I LOVE YOU SETH but got really crowd shy.
After standing around with my camera for a minute the crew started glancing my way more and more. I didn't want them to get any crazy ideas about me so I went on my way. You need balls of steel to be a pro paparazzi. It feels really creepy taking candid shots of strangers.
Side story:
We were with a friend who had been a set & props guy in Hollywood for a number of years. He was bonding with the sound technician over industry gossip and how difficult Hollywood and Vancouver are to break into, even with extensive experience. After sharing what films they'd worked on they both simultaneously spat on the ground and said they're never work for Disney. Suddenly they were best of friends. Disney is notorious for treating their employees like shit and it seems they're the creepiest, bottom-of-the-barrel feeding scum that you wouldn't want working on any other set. It's funny to hear from multiple people about how anything is better to work at than the Mouse House...
So awesome.
