I hadn't read L.J. Smith's
blog in awhile, so I'm sure many of you have already seen it, but here's an interesting little tidbit off her most recent (late may) post, about the Pilot for the Vampire Diaries series -
(bold font is my emphasis, not Smith's)
She said she really loved it, and that she especially liked the bits with Stefan and Damon. I'm glad of that, because that's the chemistry that needs to work to make it a real love triangle. She also said that she felt the chemistry between Stefan and Elena, which is, of course, just as important. Now I only have to fret about the chemistry between Damon and Elena . . .
OK. WOW. :o So maybe I am reading way too much into this, seeing the world with slash goggles as I do, but... I think Smith just strongly implied that Stefan and Damon's relationship chemistry is the most important element of the show, or at least as equally as important as Stefan with Elena. And that it's a true 3-way love triangle.
Of what clips they've shown so far, the only thing I like about the show is the Damon/Stefan interaction. I'm more than a little leery of what quality the show may end up having, but lots and lots of cool Damon stuff could possibly keep it watchable for me. He's about the only character I really truly like in the books, and probably for the tv series as well. It's really much too early to judge though.
