My cold is notably better, and seems to have cured the sinus infection, oddly enough. And you know, I think my fast turnaround may in fact be because I stopped the antibiotics and started taking Dr. Ohhira's Probiotics instead. In which case I could have saved $200 by not going to a doctor, even after the somewhat high cost of the probiotics.
TMI WARNING - On the other hand, I've been cramping up for about 5 days now and still no actual start of menstruation. This is becoming a distressing ongoing pattern which I am really not cool at all with. See, I normally have really awful extra-bad cramps which can, on occasion, keep me from leaving my bed for a day or two because I'm unable to stand or walk particularly well. Sometimes I want to kill myself just to get away from the agony, though luckily it's only been that bad a few times in my life. It's really quite enough that I have to deal with that for 2-3 days. Nasty stabby cramps for 1-2 weeks, even if it's not constant that whole time, is nevertheless, NOT COOL.
Have any of you had this problem? Is there anything I could safely take to induce the bleeding to start a little faster/smoother? I think I'm also going to try to hit the gyno next month, as I'm about due for a PAP anyway, and I could see about getting better painkillers than advil and see if they have any ideas on the matter.
The rest of this month is going to be crazy though, and I just found out we're doing drop two weeks in a row because it's the end of the quarter, so I guess I have at least two more long weeks to suffer through.
I went back to logging my meals on Sparkpeople.com again, so I can see where I missing vitamins and how much calories I'm usually eating these days. It looks like I'm desperately in need of potassium and iron as usual, and as I figured, my coffee habit is mostly what's keeping my calorie count out of acceptable boundaries, so I either need to cut down or come up with 200 to 500 calories worth of exercise a day to make up for it. I don't think I can cut down my meal calories enough to compensate and it actually be maintainable or nutritious enough. And I need to stick with eating fruit and/or yogurt instead of ice cream, pie, cake, and chocolate. And my meals are a bit imbalanced - I need more protein, less carbs - though surprisingly my fat's not too high most days, and I've decided I'm not going to care at all about the sodium while my blood pressure is totally normal.
As far as vitamin supplements go - I'm sticking with my daily multi. About to quit the megadoses of B-12, as I think it is marketing hype that they give you an energy boost. Going to try to stick with the CoQ10 and Omega 3-6-9, even though they are pricey. Still thinking about sticking with Cinnamon (it's super cheap at least, even if I can't tell if it's helping with blood sugar or not). And I'm about to start on SAMe for my depression, even though it's expensive, since St. John's Wort has so many drug interactions, and an adaptogen mix of various things (including American ginseng, Reishi, Eleuthero, Aswangandha, and a bunch of similar mostly asian medicine stuff) to see if I feel more healthy in general. I feel a bit silly, but most of those herbs seem to have good quality research on their efficacy, not to mention they've been used hundreds or thousands of years by people medicinally, so it's all safe, even if results aren't totally conclusive on some of these herbs.
Does anyone know if you can count vitamins/supplements as part of your medical expenses on your taxes?
