The key to the code is that there are specific words that are used, such as back, down, side, etc in order to describe where one should start counting words, or how they should count it. (If this was a newspaper, the headline, or byline could take the place of the card, and the message wouldn't have to be on the same page, let alone the same section.)
If only they did take so long to make up...
