A question
How common is the phrase "you want I should X"? And where in the US (or outside it) is it typically said? I ran into it in a fic and went "huh" because I've never heard it before in my life, but it brings up a lot of Google hits.
Edit: Googling the variations, "I want you should" is about half as common, and "he/she wants I should" considerably rarer.
Stranger still, I found it used twice in a story from 1895 by W.D. Howells, once by a carriage driver and once by a young Shaker woman (the female lead).
