Contrary to previous reports, the three Syrian tanks that engaged rebels in battle Saturday around the Circassian villages of Beer Ajam operated in the Syrian - not the Israel-controlled - demilitarized zone near Quneitra. Those zones were set up under UN supervision under the 1974 Separation of Forces between Israel and Syria and since the outbreak of the Syrian war are regularly violated by the Syrian army and rebels alike.

Вот, оказывается, ничего и не было. А то прямо напомнило 6 Октября 1973 - ну, так там и танков было раз в несколько десятков больше, и шли они непосредственно отвоевывать оккупированную сирийскую территорию _ Голаны.
Действительно, это же не "таинственный остров" Сокотру "базой объявлять": то "советской", то "пиратской", то "американской".
