STRATFORD What do you say about an almost perfect production? Go see it, of course. Cymbeline, one of Shakespeare’s most convoluted, difficult plays, has been sent whirling deliriously across the Patterson Theatre stage in a production that is a model of clarity, uncluttered staging and sharp recognition that in Shakespeare poetry is essential.

Tom McCamus’s evil Iachimo is played with delicious evil, yet commendable restraint. Geraint Wyn Davies finds the musical cadences of Cymbeline and Andrew Gillies is touching as Posthumous’s father. About the periphery such reliable Stratford veterans as Peter Hutt and Brian Tree help bring an ensemble feel to this compelling production.
