Easton's announcement also puts to rest speculation that the actor was headed west to join the cast of another soap. As talk of his possible One Life to Live exit heated up on Internet message boards, some fans whispered that Easton's on-screen persona might be shipped off to the join the fictional Port Charles Police Department on ABC's General Hospital.

Is King Returning To GH... With Easton In Tow?
Friday, December 23, 2011 at 11:00 AM ET

It appears as if the first wave of ONE LIFE TO LIVE stars may have found their way to GENERAL HOSPITAL under the new reign of executive producer Frank Valentini and headwriter Ron Carlivati. Soaps In Depth has learned that Ted King (Alcazar, GH; Tomas, OLTL) will possibly be returning to Port Charles in the new year, and he may be bringing Michael Easton (John) with him!

A spokesperson for the soap reminds that GH does not comment on rumors, but word is that both actors have a tentative start date set for late January. It's unclear whether King will return as an Alcazar brother, or his OLTL role. And while this would also be a return trip to Port Charles for Easton, who played vampire Caleb on the GH spinoff PORT CHARLES opposite Kelly Monaco's Livvie, one source reports that he'll likely be appearing as his Llanview Police detective alter ego.

Four 'One Life to Live' Actors to Reprise Roles for 'General Hospital' Arc
9:32 AM PST 1/11/2012 by Philiana Ng

Kassie DePaiva, Roger Howarth, Michael Easton and Kristen Alderson will return as their "OLTL" characters on the ABC soap. Four actors from canceled soap One Life to Live are set to reprise their roles and join ABC's General Hospital for a unique arc. Kassie DePaiva, Roger Howarth, Michael Easton and Kristen Alderson will return as their One Life to Live alter-egos when production begins later this month in January. “We have a very exciting story planned for the citizens of Port Charles, with Sonny Corinthos at the center of it! I am confident viewers and fans alike will be excited for the arrival of John (Easton), Starr (Alderson), Blair (DePaiva) and Todd (Howarth),” said Frank Valentini, executive producer of General Hospital. “Incorporating characters from One Life to Live continue the legacy of the show as we weave them into General Hospital.”

DePaiva has played Blair since December 1993. Horwath returned to play Todd last year, the role he originated from a day-player to a long-term character. Easton joined the cast of OLTL as John in 2003.

One Life to Live Star Michael Easton Makes His Move to General Hospital
Mar 5, 2012 10:14 AM ET by Michael Logan

Suds great Michael Easton brings his One Life to Live character, John McBain, to General Hospital starting March 13 and the mob may never be the same. In an exclusive chat with TV Guide Magazine, Easton gives the lowdown on McBain's bad past with Sonny Corinthos and what GH plans to do about his own wicked history in Port Charles. Don't forget, Easton once terrorized the town as that lusty vampire Caleb Morley!

TV Guide Magazine: You're one of the last people we expected to see back in Port Chuck, considering your bloodsucker past.
Easton: I know what you mean. But, like John Lennon said, "Life is what happens to you when you're busy making other plans." I'm feeling very lucky to be on GH. It's kind of cool to be part of the fight to keep the show on the air. I hope I can help contribute to that.

TV Guide Magazine: Then you're hopeful about the show's future?
Easton: I am! I just don't see ABC letting go of soaps completely. There's a feeling that the wrecking ball is right outside and that there's no time for complacency or apathy, and that's mobilized everybody. I think if we keep up the fight, if we pick up the pace and the energy, there's a good chance we can stay on the air. But the audience really needs to embrace us. If you have feelings for this show, now is the time to stand up and be counted.

TV Guide Magazine: So no qualms about making this move?
Easton: [Executive producer] Frank Valentini gave me an impassioned speech that really got to me. My biggest concern was that I didn't want to go to GH just to bait some of the OLTL audience. I didn't feel that was very valid or fair. It would just piss off the GH audience and disappoint the OLTL fans. There needs to be a really good reason why McBain is in Port Charles - something organic, not forced - and I think they came up with a good one. At first he's there to apprehend and bring home Todd Manning to stand trial for Victor's murder, but then Blair asks him to look after Starr and help see her through the loss of her baby and boyfriend. Then it's revealed that McBain has a history with Sonny. Their relationship goes way back to McBain's very early days with the FBI. Sonny was responsible for McBain losing someone who was very close to him. It was one of those situations where the only way he could catch Sonny was to corrupt evidence or manufacture some and he couldn't find it in his heart to do that. So he had to bury it and let it go. So Sonny remained the one that got away, the big white whale. This time around, McBain is determined to see justice done one way or the other.

TV Guide Magazine: Do they tangle right away?
Easton: Day one, he and Sonny have a casual encounter. No one knows what's happened between them. But later Sonny tells Jason, "This guy's going to be a pain in my ass. Don't let him get carried away. Let's get him the f--k out of Port Charles." But the more people want McBain to leave, the more it makes him not want to go anywhere. Starr has a strange draw to Sonny's kid, Michael, so that's a big concern. At first McBain is worried that Michael is trying to get Starr to change her testimony to benefit his father. But he's also worried for her life. Starr thinks she's old enough to handle all this herself but she needs someone to watch her back. He's worried she's got a lot of vengeance in her heart and may act out against Sonny. My character also ends having a surprise history with some other characters, connections I didn't see coming. I feel it's very inspired.

TV Guide Magazine: So what happens to his life in Llanview? He's got his wife, Natalie, and a child back there. How will they address that?
Easton: They'll have their hands full trying to make that work because that baby was everything to McBain. I think they're waiting to see if my storyline works or not. For now they have him calling Natalie saying, "This is going to take longer than I expected." But they do need to deal with it since they have me tied up for quite a block of time.

TV Guide Magazine: Meaning a longterm contract?
Easton: Yeah, but you know how those things go. They can still drop me after six months. Who knows if this will end up lasting?

TV Guide Magazine: Didn't you broadly hint at a fan gathering that Melissa Archer [Natalie] would be joining you on GH during May sweeps?
Easton: I think I was just kidding. I know nothing. I have scripts to next Wednesday and know nothing beyond that. A long time ago I learned not to go up to the boss and ask what's happening to my character. I haven't done that for 20 years, since I was on Days of Our Lives. At OLTL, I never had a meeting in Frank's office in the eight or nine years I was there. I have never talked character with [head writer] Ron Carlivati. I think it would be a lovely thing to have Melissa come in, to have that dynamic again and to see McBain in that fashion. But I can also see him wanting to protect his wife and child during this clean-up job in Port Charles, and keep them safe in Llanview. [Laughs] Where there's absolutely nothing to worry about because bad things never happens there.

TV Guide Magazine: So McBain's going to wipe out the mob? Seriously? I can't see that happening.
Easton: Next to bringing in a guy in a mask and a cap, McBain's the perfect one to do it because everyone else in town has trouble going up against these mobsters. Don't forget, McBain tracks serial killers for the FBI. He looks at Sonny and these guys as small-town thugs. He laughs 'em off. Get out of my face! Hopefully, the credibility will be there and the audience will buy it. These mob guys can't keep getting away with murder. I think the audience wants some sort of moral center. That's why Disney paid four billion bucks for Marvel Comics. The world wants the good guys to beat the bad guys.

TV Guide Magazine: But how is any of this McBain's business? This isn't his territory.
Easton: [Laughs] He is completely out of his jurisdiction and really getting the Mister Tibbs treatment. Everyone's giving him the runaround but that only drives him even more. It fuels him. People give him grief and he goes on about his business. But this is a mountain that's ahead of him. They've got the odds stacked in their favor. It's a real underdog thing.

TV Guide Magazine: So no one in Port Charles makes note that McBain looks exactly like Caleb?
Easton: [Laughs] They've gotta be careful with that, don't they? They've written something that's kind of cute with McBain and Sam [Kelly Monaco, who also played Caleb's lover Livvie]. They sort of stumble across each other and feel an odd, immediate connection. They have this moment where it's, "Hey, don't I know you from somewhere? Maybe another life?" It's kind of witty and fun. I think that's a good place to leave it for now.

TV Guide Magazine: How'd it feel not to end OLTL properly? When you guys wrapped up the show on ABC you still thought it was moving on to the internet.
Easton: It really hurt. I'm not a particularly sentimental guy about things like that. I've been on so many primetime shows that were cancelled - after one episode, after 10 episodes, after just one season. I got used to that. But I found myself choking up a bit at OLTL. It was really hard to say goodbye to those people. It was not the way we wanted to go out. I wish we could have closed it out in the right way and really gone out with a bang, but hands were tied. I went to the wrap party and it seemed like everyone was medicated. It was kind of like that movie Westworld where everyone is walking around in a daze. And I really feel bad for the fans who were left with that false hope that something was going to happen. That's why I feel so strongly about this move to GH. We have to do everything possible to keep these soaps going.

by Megan Masters January 19, 2013 06:11 AM PDT

One Life to Live‘s recent revival may soon mean the end of Roger Howarth, Michael Easton and Kristen Alderson‘s respective runs on General Hospital - at least temporarily. As first reported by Daytime Confidential, the aforementioned actors - who permanently relocated to ABC’s sole surviving soap after the cancellation of One Life - will likely have to vacate their current home in order to help launch The Online Network’s incarnation. “Prospect Park realizes these three characters could initially help draw fans to the new One Life,” a source reveals to the site. That said, it’s possible that the trio could ultimately end up back on GH, as Prospect Park is said to “want to go much younger with their soaps.”

As previously reported, Prospect Park has first right of refusal on any OLTL characters now being used on GH. In response to the casting shakeup report, an ABC spokesperson tells TVLine: “There are ongoing collaborative conversations. We have various strategies in place depending on the outcome of these talks and of Prospect Park’s plans.”

General Hospital Exclusive: Are Vampires Returning to Port Charles?
by Michael Logan Jan 9, 2013 09:34 AM ET

They're back in town and ready to kill. Or are they? Years before bloodsuckers were all the rage via True Blood, The Vampire Diaries and Twilight, they were raising holy hell on Port Charles. The 1997-2003 General Hospital spinoff featured Michael Easton as vampire stud Caleb Morley, Kelly Monaco as his luscious lover Livvie and GH crossover fave Lynn Herring as vampire slayer Lucy Coe. Now that Herring is back on GH as Lucy and Easton and Monaco are on the soap in different roles, it's time for some wicked fun!

On Monday, Jan. 14, Lucy will drop by Kelly's Diner for some chow and spot John McBain, the good-guy cop played by Easton. "She completely freaks and screams, "Caleb!" says head writer Ron Carlivati. "Later Kelly's character, Sam, comes out of the ladies room and Lucy think it's Livvie." Lucy goes into full slayer mode and stabs John. He's rushed to the hospital. She ends up in the slammer.

"Our universes are colliding but this is no quick gimmick," Carlivati promises. "This will kick off a nice little mystery story: Is Lucy crazy or is there something very real going on here? And, if she's crazy, why do John and Sam feel like they've met before?"

GENERAL HOSPITAL: A Murder Mystery Begins! Is Michael Easton Playing Dual Roles? - Watch The Promo!

Leave it to the clever creative team of Cartini to come up with this one! The big question is, is this the chance for soap favorite Michael Easton (John McBain) to play dual roles? Or, could John become Caleb the vampire, because of the situation with usage of the One Life to Live characters by Prospect Park? Or, was this in the works anyway?

These are just some of the burning questions that have ignited over the latest ABC promo for General Hospital! In it, newbie Rafe played by Jimmy Deshler is pointing the finger at John McBain for a mysterious and shocking murder in the town of Port Charles! The promo tag line, “The cop behind the case … is also the prime suspect” makes us wonder just where this story of the “Return of the Vampires” saga from the defunct soap Port Charles could be headed.

Lucy and Kevin are in the mix and they have history with Caleb, Livvie and most likely Rafe! And then we have that undeniable chemistry that came out of nowhere between John and Sam (Kelly Monaco) who both actors have revealed, in interviews in 2012 with On-Air On-Soaps, how comfortable it is for them to work with each other, which for viewers translates to “hot” couple!

OLTL Reboot Forces Howarth, Easton, Alderson Off GH - How Might ABC Hold Onto Them?
February 1, 2013 08:30 AM PDT

John McBain is soon to be McGone from General Hospital‘s Port Charles. As will fellow Llanview transplants Todd and Starr.

Daytime TV vet Michael Easton took to his Facebook page on Friday morning to advise fans not to send anything to the ABC soap’s studio for his Feb. 15 birthday, because by then he’ll no longer be hanging his hat there. “I’ve been informed that, due to some ongoing legal this and that, I cannot be at General Hospital after February 8th,” he shared.

The “legal” matter to which Easton referred stems from the upcoming Hulu/iTunes relaunch of One Life to Live, where John, Todd and Starr originated. When the media company Prospect Park announced its new plan to revive both OLTL and All My Children, it was with the proviso that it owns and thus has first dibs on the sudsers’ characters - even on those that have since relocated to GH.

Though McBain seems fated to return to OLTL‘s Llanview, that does not necessarily mean that Easton will be playing him, since the ex-OLTL actors’ deals are not with Prospect Park but ABC. (Easton’s name was not among the dozen first confirmed for the relaunch, but his leading lady Melissa Archer’s was.)

In fact, Digest is hearing that John, Todd and Starr will all be recast for the online reboot.

GH meanwhile is holding out hope that it can hold onto the three actors, likely in different roles. (Welcome back, Caleb?) “General Hospital is excited about Michael Easton, Kristen Alderson and Roger Howarth staying on the show,” ABC said in a statement cited by Digest, “and we are exploring ways to allow that to happen.”

“[I'm] honestly not sure what the future holds,” Easton added on Facebook, “but I think it’s going to take some time and some very bright people to resolve it.”

Michael Easton: Back to a Dual Role
By Maria Ciaccia, February 7, 2013

Anyone remember the TV show Two? It ran on the CTV network for 22 episodes back in 1997-1998. The tagline was: "Good and evil have the same face."

The good face on that show was played by Michael Easton.

The bad face on that show was played by Michael Easton.

Now Michael Easton has another dual role, that of John McBain and Caleb Morley, who was a vampire on Port Charles.

So is this manifestation of Caleb a vampire or what? How come he didn't recoil at the sight of the cross Lucy held up? Can he see himself in the mirror? Can garlic keep him away?

Whatever Morley is, my guess is we could be seeing a lot more of him as John McBain has to be out of the picture soon if GH can't work anything out with Prospect Park so that the character of McBain can stay.

Easton says that he has to be out of the GH studio after February 8 (though scenes will air until some time in March). Whether this is still true, I don't know.

Breaking News: One Life to Live Stars Head Back to General Hospital
Michael Logan Mar 25, 2013 09:42 AM ET

Will General Hospital fans accept Michael Easton, Roger Howarth and Kristen Alderson in brand new roles? They might have to!

Multiple sources tell TV Guide Magazine that the trio of former One Life to Live stars - who've been embroiled in a tug-of-war between ABC and Prospect Park, the company that's producing the upcoming OLTL reboot - will soon return to GH after being forced to vacate the show for several weeks.

But here's the kicker: It seems we'll no longer see Easton as John McBain, ditto Howarth as Todd Manning or Alderson as Todd's daughter Starr. ABC doesn't want to risk any more legal entanglements with Prospect Park, which currently owns the rights to all OLTL characters, and the only way to do that is to have the three stars play characters that in no way resemble the current ones. Word is, GH head writer Ron Carlivati is devising some clever ways to work around the headache, even though John, Todd and Starr are now tightly woven into Port Charles society and all three are involved in blooming romances.

"Prospect Park has been extremely difficult to deal with on this issue so GH basically said, 'Screw it! We'll create all new characters!'" notes one source privy to the situation. "It's the only way GH can get past the problem and get on with business."

Michael Easton Debuts As Silas Clay On General Hospital! - What Was Your Reaction?

On yesterday’s episode of General Hospital, Michael Easton made his return to General Hospital after his new role was shrouded in secrecy. After playing John McBain, Stephen Clay, and Caleb Morley in his soap lives on ABC, just what would General Hospital head writer, Ron Carlivati have in mind for this beloved fan favorite?

Well, the answer thus far was revealed at the end of Tuesday’s episode, when a freaked out Sam (Kelly Monaco) insisted she ran into lunatic killer Stephen Clay, only he was a doctor at the New York City hospital! Sam was at the hospital investigating and aiding in the search for Morgan Corinthos!

Turns out that she was seeing double, in that the doctor was in fact, Silas Clay, the brother of nut-job Stephen Clay!

'General Hospital': Who should get custody of Rafe?
June 2, 2013 By: Tiffany Bailey

“General Hospital” fans have had an exciting few weeks. The writers finally revealed Roger Howarth’s character as Franco, and they are working Kristen Alderson and Michael Easton in with their stories as well. We haven’t seen much of Easton’s character, Dr. Silas Clay. According to a tweet posted June 2 by Ron Carlivati (head writer of “General Hospital”), Sam (Kelly Monaco) and Silas (Michael Easton) will be facing off in court beginning Monday, June 3.

Easton and Monaco have a huge history with one another. The chemistry they have is fantastic, which is why the writers pair the two together in scenes. As Dr. Silas Clay, Easton will be battling against Sam Morgan (Monaco) to get custody of his nephew, Rafe. It will be interesting to see how Sam and Silas go to bat for Rafe, especially since Rafe only wants to be with Sam. It seems like it has been ages since the two were paired with one another, and their supporters are excited to see what the custody battle will bring.

What do you think will happen with Sam and Dr. Clay when they face off in court? To stay up to date with your favorite story lines, catch “General Hospital” weekdays at 1 p.m. CST on ABC. If you miss the afternoon airing, you can catch the same-day episodes on SOAPNet at 8 p.m. CST.

Michael Easton to Exit ABC's 'General Hospital'
by Cody Schultz

Daytime vet Michael Easton is packing up his things and leaving ‘General Hospital’, and you won’t believe what the writers have in store for Silas! Dr. Silas Clay is about to check-out of General Hospital for good. As first reported by Daytime Confidential, actor Michael Easton (who portrays Dr. Silas Clay on ABC’s sole remaining daytime drama) will be exiting General Hospital some time in the coming weeks. The news should not come as too much of a surprise, as Easton’s character’s role on the series has gradually been reduced since his introduction in early 2013. So just how will the writers write the character off this time around? This is where things get interesting! Okay, time for some some major spoilers! If you’re not one for GH spoilers, this is probably where you’ll want to leave us.

Rumor has it that Silas will be killed off, and we’re not talking about in some fluke accident - we’re talking about murder! That’s right GH fans, the Grim Reaper will soon be knocking on Dr. Clay’s door. While it remains unknown who will be responsible for Silas’ untimely death, all signs currently seem to be pointed at Denise Demuccio (aka Ava Jerome) -which makes complete sense. Silas is really the only person that can blow up Ava’s cover as Denise and if Silas comes cleans about Avery’s kidnapping Ava would be done for - and we all know how Ava handles being backed into a corner…
