Mutant X FAQ: Who wrote the music in Mutant X?

The Music of Mutant X

The Mutant X theme song was composed by Lou Natale, who also wrote the score for the first season of Mutant X, assisted by Igor Vrabac. The theme song can be found on his website and Television Tunes. [Trivia point: According to Hollywood Up Close, Leslie West of the band Mountain was asked to submit a Mutant X theme of his own, but lost to Lou Natale's composition.]

Seasons two and three were scored by Donald Quan, assisted by Daniel Heavenward, Maria Molinari (season 3), and Alison Chung-Yan (episodes 309 " No Exit" and 310 " Brother's Keeper").

Though Tribune Entertainment never compiled an official Mutant X soundtrack for commercial release, some of the music can be found from their original artists. For example, musician Brian Pickett of the band Voodoo Highway has generously offered to send mp3 versions any of his Mutant X soundtrack songs (eg: "The Chase," "That's Enough," "Ridiculous," "Trouble", "Double Blonde," "Fun with Lead Pipes", "Black Cat Trippin'", "Happily Dictated", "Perfect Little Place," "Preposterous"), to Mutant X fans who email him requests. Thanks, Brian! :)

Lay down beside me You beautiful dreamer
Of sweet things The planet's going round
And you're around me You surround me
We hustle through the day Big long days
We rustle through the paper Pushing maze
You tossle in your sleep Sweet sweet sleep
The sun's sitting on me And I'm basking
For an hour or two The planet's going round
And you're around me You surround me
We hustle through the days Long hot days
We rustle through the paper Pushing maze
We stumble onto streets Cold long streets
In sweet sweet sleep

8. The song playing as the team mourns at the end is "GREEN STARS" by Microbunny by Allan Okada, Tamara Williamson (vocal) [2:05](thanks to PsiGen for finding this one):

You came walking through the door
Just as if you’d left it open
I was busy trying to ignore
The tell-tale signs of missing
Of missing you
And I’ll find time to look over everything
And I’ll find time to get over everything
There’s a photo I found warping
Two sunburnt faces look out smiling
I’m much taller in real life
The camera angle only seeing one side
And I’ll find time to look over everything
And I’ll find time to get over everything
And I’ll find time to look over everything
And I’ll find time

Episode 108, " In the Presence of Mine Enemies":
1. The music Jesse Kilmartin and Toni Quintana dance to at the beginning of the episode is "GAME 3" by Usra Leedham.

It was one of those days
About one o'clock
When you came to my door just the same
I'd been waiting so long
Since ten o'clock
And the anger had come to gain
I don't want you
Fooling me again
And I'd made up my mind
It's 'cause of you
That I cannot decide what to do
I am sick of the way
You think of me
And the way that I think of me too
I don't want you
Fooling me again

2. "DISLOCATE" as performed by M1, written by Matteo Dimaria was the instrumental music in Act 3 of the episode. [1:04]

Episode 110, " Dark Star Rising":
The song is "US ON A THURSDAY," written and performed by Usra Leedham.

Oh, you're such a poor boy
Am I supposed to pity you?
You're the one who screwed me
Now you got your walkin' shoes
Take your things and pack and go
I'm not waiting 'round
I can see right through you now
And I think it's funny that you're leaving
Why am I surprised though?
What else did I want from you?
All the expectation
Is walking out the door with you
And I was kidding, the way I spoke last night
Yeah, I was kidding
And it's funny, the way you cried last night
Yeah it's funny
Why do all your answers
Have such predictability?
I am not a question
Stop fucking trying to answer me
Funny, that you're leaving
Kneel down on the floor
Kneel down, I don't want you no more
