More awesomeness!

So much to comment on here...

The opening scene with Playa was very compelling to me because it gave me flashbacks to my days as a reporter. ;) I like how you show her carefully, scrupulously building a story, and made realistic how she was able to get to talk to some people and not to others. I was amazed she got in to see Adelle though, and then that Adelle talked to her. ;)

The Zak Adama stuff in this chapter just about broke me, especially when Gaeta's mind broke through here and there. When he found out that Dee was dead, I was all, "WOMAN ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL ME OR WHAT???" :P

But seriously, the whole Zak stuff was just absolutely gripping. It actually made more of an impression on me than when Dollhouse brought back dead people, because in this case, I actually knew the characters in question. And as much as I abhorred what he was doing, Adama's decisions about Zak rang totally true for me. He's so ruled by his emotions, despite all his show of stoicism, that I know he would never be able to give up the opportunity to make peace with his dead son.

Bill's reaction didn't surprise me. Lee's reaction didn't surprise me. But Kara's did. Because at this point, she's basically an imprint herself.

I was kind of surprised that Laura backed off Adelle's refusal to follow orders. She's so steely in Season 4, after all.

I like all the discussions going on in this chapter about free will, souls, and ghosts. Saul's discomfort is palpable, even though he makes only occasional appearances. And OMG, the interaction with Hoshi was *painful*. Utterly painful. It did set up nicely him seeking out Zarek at the end of the chapter though. And from Hoshi's POV, it must have seemed like Adama was the most cruel and decadent of commanders, using Gaeta as his own personal meat puppet to work out his troubled relationship with his son, to get absolution for his crimes, by using the body of someone who was never granted any opportunity to ask for absolution. Oh, and Zak's moments of admitting he's not real and asking who he was? It made me surprisingly sad for Zak, a character I've never cared about much.

Oh, and I LOVE Hoshi's backbone in this fic! He has some of the best lines in this chapter! And an alliance with Kara? How unusual.

Great fic, as I've said about it before, but really, it's true. I've been really psyched to read each chapter, wondering what's coming next. :)

Thanks so much!

I'm glad you found Playa realistic. I'm deliberately not commenting any more on that one ;) And I'm so glad you enjoyed the Zak stuff.

But Kara's did. Because at this point, she's basically an imprint herself.

That's actually why I thought Kara would be so against it. Kara feels so out of her skin in season 4, and so... frustrated by not knowing what she is and not understanding what's wrong. She's not sympathetic to Gaeta (something she is VERY adamant about), but she feels wrong through so much of Season 4 I could see her feeling very angry that Adama is doing that to someone else. she's kind of where Athena is- she's all for shooting Felix, but this putting another soul into his body is bugging the hell out of her. And making it Zak, someone that she loved very much... it's like a profaning of Zak, as well as something that goes against what she blieves.

I was kind of surprised that Laura backed off Adelle's refusal to follow orders.

Honestly? I couldn't come up with any other way to resolve that particular deadlock. :) I knew Zak wasn't going to fight going back anyway, so I just let it go.

And I'm glad you're enjoying Hoshi and the Hoshi-Kara alliance. I love writing Hoshi with a backbone (he pretty much always has one in my stuff), and I had WAY too much fun with Hoshi and Kara in the last few chapters :)

So glad you're enjoying!!! Thanks!
