Heh. Great line. Totally worthy of the show.
Tom's martyr death surprised me with its rightness. I'm not usually a fan of noble martyred deaths like that, because I often end up feeling like they weren't all that necessary and therefore all that noble. But Tom is one of those characters who I slowly came to realize over the whole of the series really did prefer to die in a blaze of glory rather than quietly, even though he wouldn't have admitted that to himself until much later in the show when Lee called him out on it. I was surprised at how much I liked and bought into the peace you gave him with this final noble act.
I'm glad that Karl and Felix made up. Poor Felix, that after all this that's happened to him, was still nervous about telling Helo about the Sweet!Eight and New Caprica. It seems so water under the bridge at this point in my mind, but I wouldn't love Felix if he didn't have that overdeveloped guilt complex, I suppose. ;)
Did Adama make it, btw? I started to wonder from his lack of presence if he was dead.
Really good story. It was seriously like reading a real, live novella. :) It's the longest fic I've read in a very long time, which is a comment on my reading habits of late. And while I was reading it over these few days, it was like reading a novel; I was thinking about it at work and everything, waiting with bated breath to get home and read more.
Tom makes sense as a martyr. Really, according to himself, that's what he did in canon- he died as a martyr. It's funny, because so often Laura said she wanted her life to have meaning, and really, Tom was the same way.
Adama made it- I think he just didn't change much :)
