There were some complaints that we hadn't had a grimdark meme or a wiw in a while. SO.
IT IS TEN YEARS IN THE FUTURE (for like the twentieth time). Senator Baelheit is now DICTATOR OF AMERICA. He commands an army of CYBORGS with EMOTION SUPPRESSING ROBOT BRAIN IMPLANTS and is converting large stretches of the landscape into machinery for no reason. Mutants and other superhumans are given the choice of being given an emotion suppressing robot brain implant and working for Baelheit, or being arrested and probably experimented on or something. Any citizen who does not comply with Baelheit's FASCIST ROBOT REGIME is hunted down either by his cyborg soldiers or by GIANT ROBOTS or HUGE MONSTROSITIES THAT USED TO BE PEOPLE BUT WERE MUTATED INTO TWENTY FOOT HIGH MONSTERS VIA GENETIC ENGINEERING
SO. Your characters have a CHOICE.
either:
- they have SIDED WITH BAELHEIT and his oppressive fascist robot government, in which case they now have emotion suppressing robot brain implants
- they are part of one of several groups of REBELS fighting to SURVIVE without having emotion suppressing robot brain implants or being arrested
- they are like OUTLAW MERCENARIES or something I don't know
- they DIED HORRIBLY SOME YEARS AGO to make a point about how DARK this AU is
remember:
- robot arms are for ANYONE AND EVERYONE WHO WANTS THEM, not just Baelheit's underlings
- if your character is a rebel or a mercenary, they probably have an enormous gun, or three, even if their mutant power is shooting lasers out of their face
- you may also have swords
- you might have had a kid - if you did, it was either KILLED TRAGICALLY, or you THOUGHT it was killed tragically when actually it was just TAKEN by the GOVERNMENT and one day it will grow up to try to kill you
- you can have an emotion suppressing robot brain implant without being one of Baelheit's underlings, if like you used to be one of his underlings but you changed your mind, but this means you have to live with the knowledge that your ability to FEEL is severely curtailed
or something
against all logic it is possible for this to make you sad
- everyone grimaces a lot
- explosions are a necessity
- most people have stubble and if you're biologically incapable of having stubble then you should at least have the decency to have scars
