YEAH, BABY!!! seriously. I so rock.

so, guess what? yesterday I stayed home during my day off school, and yesterday night I watched Amelie, which I own, for about the five thousandth time. <3 that movie so much. it's funny and cute and Parisienne and sweet, and Audrey Tateau is unearthly adorable. it makes me wish I could speak French. I want the soundtrack so I can listen to it and be all altruistic and happy and light and bubbly and stuff.

but yesterday I noticed something in it that I never really paid much attention to - the preview that came before it. now, I like watching previews for movies, but I dunno, either I just always skipped the ones before this movie or it's been so long since I've seen it that I don't remember em. but I saw a preview for this movie - have any of you seen it? it's called Monsoon Wedding, it's a very Indian - yanno, singing&dancing, cute love story - type movie and it sounds completely friggin adorable.

go here and watch the trailer - in case you people don't have quicktime, here's the setting. this Hindi chick is talking to her mom, who tells her she's not ready for marriage, and the daughter tells her mother that she'd like to settle down, and the mom goes to her "so what are you gonna do? get married to some guy selected by mommy & daddy, you've barely known him for a couple of weeks?" just from this line alone, I can tell I'm going to LOVE this movie. and there's a good plot line, too - from the trailer, we can see the daughter (whose name is Aditi - I looked the movie up) wants to get married because she's clearly on the rebound from an older lover, and when she agrees to an arranged marriage she starts to like the new guy but still wants the old guy. and there's gonna be a bunch of little side-plot-lines, too - theres this adorable clip of a part where this girl asks this guy "what are you thinking about?" and he says "good Indian girls". =D cute!! and I already know I'm gonna love the character of Aditi's dad, there's one part where he says about his kids "if only their lives are happy - for that I'd be willing to take on every trouble in the world." this movie, basically, seems very cute, happy, light, and sweet - it's also, by the way, extremely colourful - it shows clips of the wedding scene, and some dancing scenes, and it just seems like a very alive kind of movie, if that makes any sense.

see, this is the kind of movie that I generally tend to freak for. I love sci-fi movies, and serious ones, and action, and horror, and basically all kinds - but little, adorable, relatively-unknown foreign films are awesome. I don't mean chick flicks - generally, I don't like those. think Amelie. it seems like that type of movie. and Amelie I will NEVER get sick of.

I'm excited now!! I love the music, too - Indian music, it makes me feel like dancing (which, as people who know me in real life can tell the rest of you, is not a pretty picture. kinda scary. but there ya go.) and I showed the trailer to me mom and she wants to watch it too. looks like we're gonna be renting. you all should, too - Monsoon Wedding, directed by Mira Nair - who is also a Hindi chick. go her. =D
