This happened so recently I'm actually still laughing at my own idiocy..
I was watching the last six minutes of 'Aliens in London', because it was either that, or the last hour of Braveheart, and while I've memorised them both, Christopher Eccleston is a bit more interesting to watch than Mel Gibson. Watched, dutifully, like the good little DW fangirl that I am. Then, a trailer for Torchwood came on.
I don't watch Torchwood.
I don't really watch BBCAmerica, because it's depressing the way they pick a show, and then run fifty bazillion episodes of it, when it's a crazy show we've got here, like Cash in the Attic or sommat. Either that, or they simply refuse to play anything past the 1980s before two in the morning. Case in point, DW comes on at two in the morning. And it's not even recent. It's Christopher Eccleston-era. (Although, on a side note, I love me some Eccleston. I just saw that Shallow Grave was coming on and think I may have busted a lamp with my squee. Ewan McGregor and Christopher Eccleston in the same movie? One of the best things, ever.)
So, this trailer comes on. I've actually never even seen a trailer for Torchwood. Torchwood is really just this sort of ephemeral ghost-y sort of thing that also exists in the Whovian universe but hasn't really affected me since they stole Rose away from the Doctor. Other than that.. Jack shows up sometimes, but from what I gather, he doesn't act the same when moving from one show to the other. It's a trailer. Maybe forty seconds long. I'm watching it mostly because, A, I've never seen any footage of Torchwood, ever, and B, because of the most recent challenge at
vortexchallenge which I forgot to enter.
So. (I'm horrible at staying on track. Especially at three in the morning. I really am functional though. I took an IQ test at four in the morning two days ago and got 159 and it told me I was a genius. So really, I am quite functional. Just a wee bit ADD..)
Trailer. Twenty seconds in, and I stop watching.
Because.. I'm doing something else. I don't know. It's about Torchwood, a show that I don't watch..
Then, the narrator comes on near the end and says
From the creators of Doctor Who..
And I looked up.
To see what they were talking about.
-headdesk-
-blink-
-blinkblink-
-moment of silence-
-blink-
-scratches head-
Okay.
It was really funny when it happened.
I fear I may have put too much build-up upon the funny.
Which only ever results in less funny than you wanted.
I nearly slapped myself though.
Couldn't believe I did that.
I honestly looked up, knowing that it was a trailer for Torchwood, and knowing exactly where Torchwood came from.
The whole anagram thing.
Some days you just end up feeling like an idiot no matter what you do.
That challenge I mentioned up there, I was scarmbling to get an entry in for, when I realised that today was the seventh.
Oops.
Due about.. Fifteen hours before I even remembered to check on the community again.
-nearly got kicked out of
tennant_lims for the self-same reason-
Gah.
This wasn't originally behind a cut, but it grew rather longer than I had originally intended, due to my inability to get to a point.
And don't poke me for my cut-text.
It does relate.
Sort of.
I don't know.
It was in a document labelled 'Laws' on my computer and while looking for a suitable enough quote for a cut I grew curious.
I'm not sure why I always feel the need to use a quote for a cut-text rather than simply tying in something relevant.
Could be my obsessive lote of quotes.
Or my boredom.
Either way..
Relying on other people's intelligence and witticisms is always rather comforting anyway.
Makes one not feel quite so bare.
Or that could just be me.
-shrugs-
Although, I have recieved many compliments lately on my gross mangling of the English language.
Mostly by those I've been RPing with.
-nodnod-
I've recently dusted of my Remus Lupin.
And, created a new character.
Really been wanting to play the Doctor though.
That new character is sort of a cross between myself and the Doctor.
Which makes him rather a joy to play.
That didn't come out quite right..
A bit too self-something-ing for my liking.
Oh dear.
330 has seen the English language pushed out of my head.
Better go to sleep.
Have to start watching other neighbour's dogs tomorrow.
Later today.
And I think I'm going to re-read the HP books before camping out for tickets on the tenth.
-thinks this is a grand plan-
-hasn't been able to wait very well for OotP-
-GoF didn't have any Remus in it-
-self nearly exploded-
-didn't like the book either, basically for that reason-
-very dedicated to ze Remus-
And I was very amused to see that David Thewlis had a beard to go along with his moustache.
Especially since I know of the petitions that were sent to the HP people in England protesting the 'stache from PoA.
Some people are insane.
Edit:
Okay, despite everything I said about going to sleep and all, and thinking that insane was a rather good note to end on, I turned on a few minutes of Shallow Grave just for fun.
After a minute and a half of viewing pleasure - I think I broke another lamp, my god do I need to go to bed - guess who pops up on the screen?
Guess!
And I had been thinking of anything they could have had in this movie to make it better.
I hadn't been able to come up with anything feasible.
What with the movie being released in 1995, and me doing some quick mental figuring to find that most of the actors whose careers I've pretty much memorised were all working on something else.
Dude.
Ken Stott fucking showed up in the middle of the screen.
-is ded-
I didn't think it was possible to love this movie any more than I already did.
I'd seen it before, years ago, in my Ewan phase.
I re-watched it after becoming a fan of Christopher Eccleston.
And now, I am complete.
I mean, Stott's even got the same hairstyle he had in Takin' Over the Asylum.
With what I think I know of TV serieses and movieses, they must have filmed the two very close together, if not with bits overlapping.
-dies again-
-is all melodramatic from being on message boards for days on end-
-composes self-
Okay. Now I'm going to watch about five more minutes of this, and really go to sleep.
Because now it's nearly four.
And I really do have to get up in at most six and a half hours..
