So, got through the second day of the orientation thing. It went pretty well, really the only thing I did was register for classes, everything else was more or less just fluff. The first thing we did was some weird flag making thing in our group. While we were waiting to start, our group leader, Erica, asked us if we liked ninjas or pirates. Apparently it was something the leaders had started with each other earlier, I'm pretty sure that it is from the internet somehow. The group of about 20 was fairly evenly split, but it was just kind of a funny random thing. I of course was a pirate. When we started the flag, it had to represent this thing called Just Community, which promotes getting along or something like that. Anyways, that's the basic idea at least. Our poster ended up being a pirate and a ninja shaking hands (or hook in the pirate's case). The idea was something like in a Just Community even ninjas and pirates get along. We actually won the little competition between 10 or 12 groups. We were supposed to get a prize for that I think...
I'm all registered for classes now, kind of exciting. The fact that it means I'm closer to leaving kind of causes an icky feeling in the pit of my stomach. My schedule is something like this, I have English 101, Topics in Math (math 155 or something), Art History, History (European Civilization 1000-1500), and Psychology 101.
Monday : English 9am-9:50am, Math 12pm-12:50pm, and History 1pm-1:50pm
Tuesday : Art history 9:30am-10:50am, Psych 2pm-3:20pm, and Math 4pm-4:50pm.
Wednesday: Englsih 9am-9:50am, Math 12pm-12:50pm, and History 1pm-1:50pm
Thursday : Art history 9:30am-10:50am and Psych 2pm-3:20pm.
Friday : English 9am-9:50am
It's a pretty spread out schedule, and I don't have more than one class a day, so that is nice. I think I'm looking forward to Psychology the most, I think that's going to be a really interesting class. I'm planning on taking more psychology, if my schedule allows for it and I do actually enjoy it. Hopefully I like both history classes, because the design program requires three quarters of both >_<
I have also met a few people, whether or not I look them up later or something I'm not sure. It'll depend I guess.
It was kind of annoying, today we went back down to Cincinnati to visit a local Starbucks (it's like half a block from the campus, very close). I had called earlier and been told that the manager was not in that day, but he was in tomorrow. We decided to go down anyways, since we had some other things to do, and we wanted to find out what times he would be in. We got there and found out that he had just left for the day. The thing that annoys me, is I think the guy I talked to on the phone was the manager. When he answered he said his name was Tim, I thought this might be him (the managers name is Tim), but he was the one who said the manager wasn't there. So I'm pretty sure he just didn't want to deal with whatever I had to say, so that really...doesn't inspire confidence.
Back to the pirate/ninja thing, we were at the mall for a little bit today, and wandered by a Hot Topic while my uncle looked at jewelry for my aunt. One of the shirts I saw said "Are You a Ninja or a Pirate?" Of course I got it, given the previous days events. Probably going to be going back tomorrow too, since there is not a lot to do here, and get something else. They had one shirt that said "My moustache brings all the girls to the yard", and since that pretty much defines me I may need to have it.
Anyways, for now I think that's everything. Maybe I'll try to find myspaces for the people I met, so you guys can see them if you are curious. Other than that, I shall maybe post one more time while I'm gone if anything interesting happens. My grandma and grandpa are coming this weekend, and they are divorced, so that could be an 'interesting' thing. Guess I'll see. Oh, and I am probably not actually going to be on messenger while I'm here, it's not on this computer anymore and I always feel bad using my aunt's laptop so much. So...yeah...someone else post something so I know what's up and stuff. DO IT!
