Seconding the line steals-thyme quoted, that one really got me too. The way you've been playing Dan and Nite Owl off each other through this whole thing is honestly brilliant, because we almost never see that explored with him -- it's always Rorschach's costume/identity issues, and Dan is Nite Owl is Dan. But yeah, he'd probably have some level of division there too, just from being forced to think about the world in different, more practical, more ruthless terms when he's in the costume.

Also seconding the fact that TALKING IS DELICIOUS NOM NOM

Aw man, I'm so glad you liked this. I really expected readers to be like, "um, yeah, this really is crap, and you should stop." :)

Dan's characterisation is one of the things that bugs me about this - I didn't clarify what I was thinking about him at first, so there's a lot of writerly hrrrrrrmmmyeah'ing before that. But I'm glad it came through eventually :) I think Dan's just as divided as Rorschach, but won't admit it - glaring naked at the suit like it's a reproachful older brother, fer god's sake - even if it is a more conscious, initially playful thing.

So long after the fact, I just found this fic. What a great read - so well observed, great characterisations. Hope I am not being a dick by asking: did you ever end up writing any more?

I've written about half the next section maybe seven or eight times, never making it work...it's still on my list of "this will get finished SOMEDAY, dammit" fics. It's been a lesson - I loved the beginning for this sequel and jumped right into posting without a sense of where I wanted it to end up...as it turns out, I'm not a WIP ficcer.

But thanks for the kind words! I'll see if I can't get back on track with this one.

This is horrible and heartbreaking -which is so, so appropriate for the characters involved- and I do hope you eventually write more because I really like your writing and your stories.
