"By order of Queen Morgana, ruler of Camelot...men can no longer aspire...to be knights," Gwen skimmed the document. She looked up with an eyebrow raised. "I don't think you can do that, now you're just switching the bias-"
Morgana cut her off, leaning around the chair, with a swift kiss,. "I can do what I like, I'm Queen."
Gwen sighed, now I know why Geoffrey insisted I read the new laws as soon as possible.
"And what am I?" she asked, turning in her chair. "Some kind of consort?"
Morgana nod, sagely. "A very gorgeous and wise ...consort."
"Maybe..." Gwen shrugged, letting the parchment settle onto the table, "I should go see how Arthur and that lot are fairing in the forrest. At least they pretended to view me as an equal - occasionally."
(Out of all the men, Gwen's former friends, Gwaine was the only one who had chosen to stay; he seemed to think if he smiled enough he could work his way into their bed. Again.
Gwen couldn't remember much of the Summer Solstice but that she remembered. Vividly.
Between Morgana and Gwaine, there hadn't been much of a gown for Gwen to salvage the next morning and she'd had to sneak in a side door, dragged by Morgana, wearing Gwaine's tunic - albeit with the laces missing and a large tear up one side.
Unfortunately, for Gwaine, he had found out later that Morgana didn't make a habit of sharing (anything), and Gwen would never ask - or want - her to. So there'd been no repeat performance.
Not that he seemed willing to give up.)
"You want me to pretend?" Morgana teased, and kissed the tip of Gwen's ear.
Gwen frowned at her. "Distracting me isn't going to work."
"Experience tells me different."
Decidedly, the younger woman stood up, and in one sudden move had cornered her wife against the wooden table, one hand either side of her. "You are not decrying that knights cannot be male," she said in a low voice.
"Well-"
Gwen took Morgana's hand and placed it at her neck, drawing it down, letting the pads of her fingers track over her skin, watching Morgana's eyes dilate, her lips parting softly. "And you are definitely not banning them from tourneys."
"Gwen, you don't understand-"
Gwen lead Morgana's hand to the front of her gown, her dark eyes focused on Morgana's blue. "I understand that you're being unfair, but two wrongs do not make a right." Gwen's tongue edged out and wet her bottom lip, slowly. Very, very slowly, and precisely and she felt Morgana's pulse speed up from where she held her wrist. "And that's what I'm here to stop, as your 'gorgeous'," she pressed Morgana firmer against the table, "'wise'," Morgana grinned as Gwen forced her to hop up on the table, "'consort'."
Breathing, shallowly, Morgana nodded. "Okay, you've sold me - I was being hasty."
Queen Guinevere's gaze drifted from her partner's eyes to her lips, "And you won't change your mind suddenly?" she asked, suspicious.
"I will burn those documents," Morgana promised. She reached out a hand and Gwen snatched it from the air.
"Oh. No fires in the Hall," she chastised. Morgana pouted at her, but her eyes danced with glee and something darker, wilder.
"And why, pray tell, should I agree to that, my dear Guinevere?"
Morgana's eyes closed, cheeks flushing, as Gwen's hand crept up the inside of her thigh. "I expect, you'll think of a reason soon, your Majesty," Gwen breathed.
