instructions on how to feed a very picky frog.
(this one is especially for Jess. who dosnt seem to know how abstinant a young reptile can be)
1: locate bobby pin or plastic spoon, and a pair of scissors or knife.
2: locate very picky frog and crickets (or other appropriate food scource).
3: locate assistant.
4: instruct assistant to grasp frog in such a way that it cannot jump. (extending the legs of the frog and grasping the legs seems to work)
5: using pair of scissors or knife remove the head of cricket (or other appropriate food scource) and wait until it has stopped trying to run away.
6: insert edge of bobby pin or plastic spoon into the mouth of the very picky frog by applying pressure at the edge of the lower jaw of the very picky frog. When mouth begins to open, twist bobby pin or plastic spoon in such a way to wedge open the jaws of very picky frog.
7: stuff decapitated cricket (or decapitated other appropriate food scource) into the mouth of very picky frog far enough as to make spitting out of the decapitated cricket (or decapitated other appropriate food scource) by very picky frog unlikely.
8: allow very picky frog to close its mouth. if very picky frog proceeds to spit out the decapitated cricket (or decapitated other appropriate food scource) repeat steps 6-8 until very picky frog does not spit out the decapitated cricket (or decapitated other appropriate food scource)
9: if neccessary repeat steps 5-8 until very picky frog has ingested an acceptable ammount of decapitated crickets (or decapitated other appropriate food scource)
doesnt that sound like fun?
i hope fido knows how much trouble i go through to get him to eat rather than to starve to death.
i made out like a bandit at the reptile expo. chrissy named the new african spiny toad "Darell" (not Daryl) then later lamented naming him as he proceeded to sing to her for the rest of the evening. The reticulated hopper frog was much cuter... i was so confused as to why she chose the toad.....
