Every week on Thursdays we have a lab class where we listen and learn from other cadets and successful leaders. Last week a cadet stood at the front of the room and with a confident, bold, but shaky voice told us that he had been diagnosed with cancer. C/MAJ Ortiz is a senior at Virginia Tech and will not be able to join the military like he had planned because of his illness. He has fought and survived 3 times prior, but this time his doctors only give him two years. He is a senior in college...just when lifes oppurtunities are supposed to open up. He said that all he asked us all was to give a bit of our time to relay for life, give a donation to the research, so that others would never be in his shoes. My company formed a team and we proudly run in honor of C/MAJ Ortiz. All I ask is for a small donation, to my team or to me directly, to help support our efforts. Thank you so much.
