Goddamnit there is nothing in politics that doesn't make me angry these days. We should all be angry. Point of fact: over 2 days I received 11 calls from the Clinton Campaign reminding to me to Caucus and then ASKING me if I'd be supporting Hillary (sorry folks, maybe you missed that in civics, but I'm not telling you, that's what the caucus is for, I don't like newspeople and pundits declaring the winner before the competition!). Kucinich was disallowed to participate in the damned debate ENTIRELY, highlighting a strategic filtering of the candidates. Edwards is being completely pushed aside/discounted by the major MEDIA outlets, as if they've anyright to weigh in at all, and thus being denied the equal exposure he's supposed to be garanteed.
On the Republican side we have Huckabee openly stating his desire to alter the constitution to match the Christian God's laws, and Ron Paul stating he'd eliminate the fucking tax structure. What's worse is the morons in this country are eating it up! No taxes? SWEET! We don't need no stinking roads, or police forces, or military forces, or social programs for victims of crime, disaster, etc. All those Paul morons out there- we don't need Farm Subsidies, or programs to help those "heartland" folk who have no skills or education and lost their jobs to foreigners because they aren't able to adapt or keep up. Are there flaws in the system? Oh hell yes, but the answer isn't to simply eliminate the tax system- you have to have a viable replacement. In Europe and Canada they pay MORE taxes than we do, and those economies are weathering financial turmoil, the people have medical care, they aren't in a foreclosure crisis. The answer is obviously not that 'good hard-working folks' should keep more of their money, because they've proven time and time again that they will not use it they way they need to, but they will still expect the government to save their asses in case of a flood, or forclosure.
The entire damned system if fucking BROKEN. We need to return to the roots- none of these billion dollar campaign war-chests. I'm talking *true* reform... Candidates are prohibitted from campaigning or collecting money until 60 days before the primary, and then restricted again until 30 days before the general election... fuck, let's just eliminate the primary and allow for an across the board vote? All funds gathered for media exposure go into a pool and are divided equally amongst all registered candidates. Candidates are limited on the number of radio, and television advertisements they can have. All campaign claims should be validated the same way research papers are- they should be required to list the sources and places where verification of the information used can be found.
Then, to top it all off, there's this little gem:
Presidential standards that directly violate the First Amendment. That's it people- stop supporting a neo-fascist attack on our personal liberties. Reject, for the love of your children and grandchildren, censorship policies designed to silence all dissenting thoughts and actions. And for fucks sake- read the Federalist and Anti-Federalist papers.
