CBS News and the Early Show have put together a piece on some alarming statistics involving Domestic Violence in this country. After leaving a violent partner a victim is at greater risk than at any other time in the relationship. Stalking, threats, and actual violence are common thus many women seek orders of protection or 'restraining orders'. Unfortunately, a disgusting habit of ignoring violations of these court orders has emerged amongst many of the law enforcement agencies across the Nation. Nevada is no exception- shame on these people for marginalizing and discounting the lives of victims and their families. Failure to act is failure to protect- complacency costs lives.
The only reasonable solution is to enforce these orders, every time, and to enact tougher penalties against perpetrators of domestic violence and stalking. THERE IS NO EXCUSE.
