open ended question

I know most of you are not Christians and that decision was made with much thought and you have strong reasons for this. This question is, mostly, for you (if you are willing to answer it) but also for everyone else. Mostly, I've been looking in the mirror and seeing a lot of -well, bitchiness there. Well a problem lies in your opening statement - I was raised Roman Catholic but just because I don't go to church anymore doesn't mean I'm not a Christian or believe in some of their ideas. As my grandfather always said "I'm a Cafeteria Catholic," he took a phrase which was supposed to be derogatory and made it his own ( ... )

i too, was raised christian (methodist) but very, uhm, lazily. yes, i've left the church, but that has more to do with the structure of the church itself and religion as a construct than it has to do with anything jesus said or did.

very simply, the things i notice that are most often missing in self-proclaimed christians are a capacity of love for others and any sense of humility.

The two biggest commandments handed out to Christians are "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind and soul" and "Love your neighbor as yourself".

So...

Love God by honoring Him and following his commands, which means loving people no matter who they are or what they do. So I guess my very short answer is: show love to others.
