I honestly didn't know it was possible to learn this much in a single month. And I definitely don't mean academically.
It has been just over a month since I flew down to New Orleans to start school. Since then I've had to learn to adapt, to accept things that I cannot control, and to make the best of a bad situation.
I have also made a lot of mistakes in these few short weeks. I regret them, a lot. But that really is what college is about: making mistakes and learning from them. I think that having U of M as sort of my "practice college experience" is convenient, because at least when I go down to Tulane I'll be able to make all new mistakes.
Because, yes, it definitely sounds like Tulane will have a spring semester. It will start January 17th and there will be a freshman orientation and everything before it. That will go as it would have if not for Hurricane Katrina. Then, there will be a seven week Lagniappe (which is a type of jazz, but I think it's just a cool name) semester, where students who didn't take classes this semester can catch up, and the rest of us can either get ahead or take less classes in the spring semester while we adjust. I am sooooo excited!!!!!!!!!!!!! As much as this whole thing has sucked, I really do think it will bring my class/school together, and having that extra short semester will prevent me from feeling totally gypped. (Although it will be unbearably hot) And the best part is, the Lagniappe semester is free!!! I'm so pumped.
