"Ohh, you're an English major. Good luck finding a job lololol."

Thanks =p When you think about it, though, us English majors can work in just about any field =) it just depends on what we know, and what we have experience with.

Literature, English: Yay, my strong suit. Unfortunately, literary magazines appeal to a small portion of people. This is more of the stepping stone for other jobs... everyone wants a degree in "English, Journalism, or a related field." Aside from becoming an author or editor to an author, I think teaching would be my best bet in sticking solely with Literature.

Technical Writing: Copy editing, proofreading, publishing, manual writing, etc. I know how to do it, have done it lots before. But I have limited professional experience. Looks like I'll have to intern before getting a job here.

Entertainment: Music, movies, film, games. I have a good all-around background here =) My dad is a musician, I play instruments, been in choir, worked for 5 years in music/movie retail, seen and heard a lot. Musical theory, however, I could learn more about. I grew up with the gamer generation too. It's those niche publications that are hard to appeal to. Like the SF Symphony. They seem to be looking for an Assistant Editor, and I meet most of their listed expectations; except for a vast knowledge of classical music =/ it seems like it'd be a really cool job to have, though. I should apply anyway.

Foreign Languages/Translation: Just handy to have in general. Good with Spanish, should brush up... idly teaching myself French. That's more than most, at least =p

Science and Technology: I like science... and have basic knowledge in bio, chem, astro, physics and psychology... but couldn't tell you much. I imagine a job here would be for a magazine or library. I'm pretty familiar with computers, applications, gadgets and all that, but not coding and programming.

Politics and Legal work: This should be easy enough. I need to read the newspaper more often! English degrees are one of the things the police look for in detectives. Court recorders make decent moolah too.

Fashion, Food, Health and Fitness: Uh... I know how to dress myself =p I can make you all kinds of coffee and teas, could probably become a bartender... not much to write about there, though, aside from recipes and reviews. Aside from Aikido, I don't know much about exercise routines, blah blah.

I'm sure I'll write something more later.
