I have been pretty idle as of late, which leads me to translating. I am often put into tobacco shop, which is slower than slow. Like, 20 customers in 5 hours. I bring in a coil-bound notebook and do translations there. They are very rough because I can't bring in other materials, so I have to rely on memory and quickly looking up words on my break. I thought it would be an interesting, if not close to impossible, challenge to translate all of Arashi's discography. I am not sure how I'm going to, as a lot of their songs are above my skill level, but I'd like to challenge as many as possible. Maybe it'll help me improve?
I made a list (took an hour or two) of all their songs (at least, most of them). So far, I have a count of 317. That includes singles, albums and solos, including those not released on disc (radio covers/solo concerts, etc.) There's probably more. There are so many songs I have never heard of. A lot of those are older, which I never listen to . Sorry, but their older stuff really doesn't appeal to me. I don't think I would have become a fan if I knew about them from the start. Would have taken a few years, at least. I am going to have a hard time because I don't own all singles/albums and will have to rely on what I find online. I don't like doing that because I find mistakes in kanji/romaji that messes things up. But, if I have no choice then....I'll start off with translating everything I physically have. That'll probably take a good year at my current speed, lol. I have mid 2008 until end of 2011-ish, plus random singles from early 2000's. That's pretty much around the time I moved out, thus cutting down my spending habits in regards to fandom by 100% I can't remember the last time I bought an Arashi product. The last few things I acquired were gifts. Ah well, I'm not rich. Maybe one day I can go back to collecting again.
I have translated 12 songs already, only 305 more to go~!
This should be fun...
