Why? Really, why?
I have an RPing question. Well, it's more a rant disguised as a question but I'm curious to hear what others have to say, if anything.
Rape. Since when did it become the cool new thing?
Isn't it to be a Bad Thing? Not something actively sought out? Why on earth do people specifically want to have this happen to a pup of theirs? In the right hands it can be a powerful storyline, yes. We all know how situations can escalate within an RP and that situations like that can then occur in plotlines. Fair enough. But I mean these people who really want their characters to be raped. Or throw it within the pup's backstory as some flippant thing to inspire sympathy in all they meet. Or as some sort of supposed 'depth' to their wanktastic Sue.
And on that subject, would someone who's been through that scream it everyone and their brother? I'm in no way a psychologist and I'm basing this on things I've read and, well, common sense but people who have been through that don't tend to make it public knowledge to random people so they'll pat them on the head and tell them it's all ok.
Same with subjects like self mutilation. They're not a card to be played to win 'awww' points at conveniant moments. If you're going to play a character with real issues and problems, fair play to you.
Yeah, I know it's only a game, a fictional world and blah blah blah. But seriously, I'm sick of people throwing up 'ZOMG i was rApeD!!??!!KKKGKK!K!K!!! purely to get others rallying around them, feeling sorry for them and then trying to heal their pain with the thuper power of twu wuv. It may be a game but it doesn't mean you have to be STUPID. Please go and jump into your wangst generator.
Oh, and if you're rape victim is so tragik, don't make her a slutty ho-bag when it suits you either.
