As I was walking to class today, I was nearly captured in the Construction Site Weir!
You see, there is a construction site across from my dorm, and I walk by it to get to class. Naturally, a construction site needs workers, and it is a little known fact that the workers are actually people who have been caught in the weirs as they wended their way to work, or class, or home. The weirs provide the workers, and the foreman then trains and provides a helmet for the recently caught fools. This has been going on since the beginning of construction, and will continue forever.
I was engrossed in my text as I walked past the site, and did not notice until a gate came crashing closed in front of me, and another behind me! I was startled out of my book and realized with dread that I had been caught! My life as a construction worker was about to begin! My natural inclination was to rush back the way I came, but I held my sense and made a dash for the opposite gate. Luckily, I squeezed through before it was entirely closed off. I narrowly escaped the weir.
Remember this as you walk around town, the weirs are out there, and they can ensnare you with ease. Be alert, and on the lookout, lest you find yourself in an orange hat at the top of a stack of rebar, wondering how you got caught, and if there is any chance of escape...
