1. What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?
oh lots of things...a few of which i'm not proud. the few that i'm not ashamed of: drank legally, had an acid trip, tried salvia, and saw Wilco, Bob Dylan, CSNY, and The Who in concert
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year? i don't make new year's resolutions. i make resolutions throughout the year, mainly in september and june. it works out well. :)
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
no one close to me, but my stepmom's friend had a baby on Nov 25th
4. Did anyone close to you die?
yup, but i'm doing just fine
5. What countries did you visit?
just Canada and the U.S.
6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?
i'd like to have a really successful semester in school that reflects my full potential, to be more assertive and self-confident, and a date with a certain someone. oh, and i'd like to have pretty skin haha
7. What date from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
quite a few, actually. jan 1st (shittiest day ever), march 15-18th (21st bday extravaganza :)), may 5th (cinco de mayo - the beginning of a crazy, fucked up summer), june 10th (the best night of the summer with a guy i was crazy about who turned out to be an arrogant jackass), july 15th - john and laura's wedding; the last fun memory i had with my mom, july 3rd - fucked up bullshit that i'd like to forget, july 17th - "uncle steve's magical mystery tour" aka acid trip, august 11th - day of hell, oct 20th - chris and sarah's wedding, nov 22nd - night before thanksgiving/carly's 25th bday night of mayhem and fun, dec 29th - pistons game with paul
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
making it through fall term?
9. What was your biggest failure?
everything about the summer. being a fat, jobless loser, alienating myself too much, getting consumed by depression, letting people take advantage of me, not realizing when people were just trying to help. it's ok, i've worked hard to turn things around since then. i'm learning to take control of my life.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
yeah, i had some colds, a long streak of sore throats, got a nasty bed sore over the summer from passing out on couches in regular pants too many times, and, everyone's favorite, the time i twisted my ankle doing the running man at Bheart haha
11. What was the best thing you bought?
my computer!
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
my amazing friends and family, dr. chen, dr. stargardt, and dr. vivian

my own at times, and certain few other people

school, books, and frivolous stuff (oh man, i need to get back to school because my spelling ability is going downhill)

haha my 21st, going back to school, "Judy Blume"

oh geez, too many - various songs will remind me of different periods of 2006. among them: "it ain't me" and pretty much any other bob dylan song, "suite: judy blue eyes" csny, "hummingbird" and almost any other wilco song, "colors" amos lee, "paper bag" fiona apple (hahahahaha....), "romeo and juliette" indigo girls, "she's a maniac," pretty much any rilo kiley, "young pilgrims" the shins, "california dreamin'" the mamas and the papas, "sexy back" justin timberlake, among others

happier

i was thinner but i feel like i've gained weight over the past few days. i'll get back on track, though. i refuse to look disgusting anymore.

I didn't watch much tv, but I watched some eps of The Office. all time favorite is still Seinfeld

i don't waste my energy on hate

better success/assertiveness in school, more attention paid to taking care of myself, being less shy around certain people

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006.
I realized that all this time I've worried about my dad and sister not thinking I'm good enough, it was really that I wasn't pleased with myself, that I knew I wasn't trying my best and that I was making excuses for coming up short. I've learned to stop focusing on what they think of me and worry about doing what i need to do/being who i need to be to be proud of myself.
