Beautiful. Whenever he thought of her, that word always came to mind even when they had been kids and she had been the awkward and geeky friend of his cousin. Something about her had caught his attention, but even then he had known that she was out of his league. She had come from a loving family, while his family constantly changed as his mom went searching for love on a daily basis. She was honor student, while he was intimately familiar with every detail of how to pick a locked door.

No, they were just so different, and so he kept away from her. Still he couldn’t but help fall for every time he saw her again. Love had a way of making even the most unmatched pair seem like a possibility. Just when he had worked up the courage to realized that those differences didn’t matter, he found that she was still out of his league.

Gorgeous. Even with tears shining in her eyes as she tried to smile and pretend that she wasn’t thinking of someone else. While he had been thinking of his move, someone else had shown her what he had always wanted to say to her. She had stolen his breath with a smile, and his heart with a laugh, and although she might be out of his league right now, he would take this time now to show her what he’d always been trying to say.

He grabbed her hand and pulled her in front of him as he twirled her around on the slick floor beneath their feet. Their reflection shined brightly on the floor as she pulled away and continued to twirl down the lane. His lips curled up into a smile as her laughter reached him and his heart clutched a bit more. She would always be that girl for him, that girl who had shown him to be more than what he was.

“Hey, Parker, what about we go get some dinner?” He cupped his hands and yelled as she continued to laugh before sliding back to him. As her hand clasped his and she smiled at him, he thought to himself that just maybe they might one day be on the same page.
