Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick

The Bobbi Brown shimmer brick is also another one of my favorited runner-up replacements. For one, it costs a horrific bomb. *gasp gasp* 70 bucks for a miserable lot of powder?!?!??! But yes, i shelled out the money and got it in the end. The problem is that shimmers make unsmooth ugly skin even more unsmooth and ugly. It draws more attention to big pores and white heads…. which is not very cool at all. Makeup is supposed to hide defects, rather than amplify them. Hey, nobody wants to look fugly. Furthermore, it takes a lot of makeup remover to get it out properly. The first time i started using it, it cost me a horrible break out because i used it too often and my remover wasn't strong enough. Use with care.

Otherwise, the palette is actually not too bad, it gives you a glow (albeit a fake one, no one can tell really) and the different colours can be used to achieve different looks. Quite cool to use really. And the colours can also be used as highlighters or eyeshadows which is really really swell. =)

The Faceshop Shimmer Palette

If you have no money.,, or your heart wrenches to pay 70 bucks for a small little palette, just get a cheaper substitute like the Faceshop shimmer palette. It works the same way, the colours and texture aren't as good (of course, what were you expecting??) But it works and hey, don't diss it cos it's cheap.

The texture is more powdery and it doesn't stay on as long as the bobbi brown shimmers. It also has a more sparkly look rather than a glowy look. Like you're sparkling in the sun... Hmm.. Twilight anyone?

The colours are also quite a bit different, the Bobbi Brown colours blend more easily whilst these are a bit too pastel for easy application. it takes a bit of work but it's a substitute. =) mak
