Hermione stirred in her bed. On the very edge of sleep, she was vaguely aware of a persistent noise coming from outside her bedroom window.

Frustrated, she reached for her wand and crossed the room in a huff, prepared to silence whatever unfortunate animal was disturbing her efforts at sleep.

Throwing open her drapes with a exasperated tug, she barely contained her scream when she discovered what (or rather who) was hovering over her parents' back garden.

There, floating two stories off the ground astride his Cleansweep, was Ron Weasley.

"Ron? What the devil are you doing here?" Hermione asked once she managed to open her window.

"I wanted to see how you were getting on," he said sheepishly, his ears burning red at his admission. "It's your first night back with your parents and all..."

"Oh Ron," she sighed.

"I'm sorry to bother you, I should've just sent a message with Pig or something."

"I'm glad you didn't." Hermione leaned out her window and tugged lightly on the end of Ron's broom, bringing him closer. "If you had, I wouldn't have been able to do this..."

She slipped her slender fingers around the nape of Ron's neck and pulled his mouth to hers. Ron's deep voice rumbled in his chest as Hermione's tongue flicked against the seam of his lips.

The window frame dug into Hermione's hips as Ron wrapped his arms around her back and pulled her chest flush against him. Hermione slid one hand along Ron's thigh, marveling at the power his legs used to steady the broom. As her hand trailed closer to his groin, Ron's broom took a sudden drop. Luckily he was able to disentangle himself from Hermione quickly enough to keep her from falling out of her window.

"Sorry 'bout that," Ron said breathlessly once he regained control of his broom. "Prob'ly a sign I should be heading back home."

"Oh.  All right." Hermione tried to hide the disappointment in her voice.

"It's your parents' first night back from Australia, don't reckon they'd appreciate finding me lurking outside your window."

"True - we should probably save that surprise for their second night back at least," Hermione teased.

"Fair enough," Ron laughed. He flew as close to the open window as possible and leaned in to brush a gentle kiss against Hermione's lips. "Goodnight Hermione."

"Goodnight."

As she crawled back into her lonely bed, Hermione wondered if Ron would dare sneak in and join her. She decided to leave the window open the next night and find out.
