Ron tried to ignore the incessant knocking at his door; it felt like someone had been trying to get him to join the Christmas festivities every fifteen minutes.
"I told you - I'm NOT coming down!"
The door creaked open and a small voice said, "Then I guess I'll have to come in."
He jumped up from his bed and shouted, "Hermione!"
She quietly closed the door behind her and stepped into the room. He rushed across to her and swept her into his arms.
"What are you doing here?" he whispered into her hair. "I thought you said you had to spend Christmas with your parents."
"I did... I mean, I tried." Her face blushed prettily as she confessed, "My parents got tired of seeing me mope about and insisted I come see you. I had to promise to come back on Boxing Day - and bring you along."
"Excellent!"
"You don't mind..."
"Love, as long as I'm with you, I don't care where I am. Besides, you know I think your parents are brilliant."
"Thank you."
"My pleasure," Ron said, his voice deeper and huskier as he framed her face in his large hands. Hermione slid her eyes closed, her heart pounding in anticipation of Ron's kiss. When it didn't come, she furrowed her brow in concern and opened her eyes. The sight that greeted her nearly took her breath away.
Ron's bright blue eyes were staring intently at her, as if to memorize her features. "I have missed you so much."
"Oh Ron, me too."
"Love you," he whispered against her lips just before kissing her with the such passion it made her weak in the knees. She secretly hoped she'd never get used to the feelings his kisses stirred in her.
Once they separated, Hermione smiled brightly while playing with the hairs on the nape of Ron's neck. "So, what have you been doing this Christmas Eve?" She nodded toward his bed, "Seems you've been doing a fair bit of moping of your own."
He blushed faintly and waved a hand toward the wireless playing softly in the corner. "Just keeping up my Christmas tradition - listening to the wireless and missing you."
"I'm here now," she said before kissing him lightly.
"Mmmm, that you are."
Hermione took a step back to the middle of the room and held out her arms.
"Dance with me."
Ron laughed as he pulled her close and began swaying to the music.
"Only you," he whispered in her ear. "Always you."
