MusiM, my music.

I’ve been giving this some thought lately and so today I make an announcement. I’m giving away MusiM songs on the MusiM myspace page. I am only giving away finished songs that aren’t on the CD.

I’ve been fairly depressed as a musician lately. I’ve ever wanted two things out of my music: To touch and help someone with what I write and to make a modest living at it without compromising my sound. Well I’m about to turn 28 in a few months and the chances of being able to live off of what I write are slim to none. I just don’t see it happening.

To get popular I’d have to be like a promoter and do live shows as MusiM. Well I don’t earn enough money to pay musicians to play my music and I don’t have any volunteers to perform my music the way I want it live. Even if I could do live shows and tour my music is too different for the masses.

And then there’s the soundtrack factor. See all music is some inspiring force that moves us in some way. When I saw the Watchmen trailer it was breath taking because of how they used that Smashing Pumpkin’s song. Same with the 300 trailer. Rarely are moments like those pulled off live. I just want to write something that affects people like that. That sings to their soul. That makes the hairs on the back of their neck stand up. I’m not confident enough to believe I can do that. I have a lot of musical talent, but it just doesn’t seem to be enough.

I’ll probably be in bands the rest of my life but I doubt they will ever go anywhere. I figure Decibel will be my last try to go somewhere with music. From now on though, my instrumentals that I make with MusiM will be free upon their completion. I don’t always know when that will be. And on myspace they won’t be the best mp3’s but if you contact me and send me money for a CD and shipping I’ll be happy to burn it for you.

Anyway, thanks to those who have supported me over the years. I’m only writing music for myself and my friends now. I hope these songs can find a place in the soundtrack of your lives. If they don’t well… I tried.

So for the first free songs I present some of my favorites: Fallen, World’s End, and Other.
