Saturdays with Jeffy (Delayed): Jesus Is Comin'

I have proof that god likes full-contact sports.

In a word...naw make that two words: Reggie White.

For those who don't know, Reggie White was a Hall-of-fame defensive lineman for a few teams. He was also a minister since the age of 17 up until his passing a couple years ago. He was the all-time sack leader at the time he retired (not sure if he is any more) and played a huge part in winning a Super Bowl for the Green Bay Packers.

Recently, I heard a rather hilarious story about him when one of his former teammates spoke of him a couple days ago. It was back when he played with the Packers in the mid-late 90's. They were playing an exhibition game against the Lions. During one play, Reggie was getting held by a tackle (for those who don't know, that's illegal) and the ref never called it. The tackle started harassing him after the play, cussing him out.

Now Reggie wasn't one to swear or even stop people from swearing but he wasn't gonna let that tackle get away with it. He tried going after him but his fellow linemen held him back as the guy laughed. Reggie calmed himself down and said, "Jesus is comin'."

The rest of the linemen knew something was gonna happen so when they got to the line, they told the other four on the O-line that they weren't attacking. They could block all they wanted, they were going to watch Reggie.

Reggie got down into his stance kicking up like a horse, continually saying "Jesus is comin'. Jesus is comin'." The tackle had a smug look on his face. Just as the quarterback was about to snap the ball, Reggie yells, "HERE COMES JESUS!"

The QB snapped the ball, the D-line stood up and Reggie just bull-rushed his guy. He pushed him into the QB and took both of them down. After the play, he stood over the tackle and said, "Don't you ever cus me out again, boy!"

As of yesterday, Jesus is in the Hall-of-Fame.
