day of the show y'all

We made it. Opening night. It's a bizarre phenominon and probably wouldnt make sense to someone who doesn't spend their life in a windowless tank of illusion we lovingly dub a theater. Opening night days smell different. There's a small pit in your stomach, whether you are starring, 4th guard from the left or teching - you look at everything throughout the day with a heightened sense of anticipation. There's an urgency to what you do, all leading up to that time you step into the green room to sign in.

and tonight when i get to put away the ghost light. the universal sign that the magic is about to occur.

this has been a bit of a haul, but we're here. we're actually here. AHHH!!!

I saw Spencer in the green room this morning and he said he checked the call just to make sure i carried on the tradition. The tradition I mentally decided during Much Ado that I just absolutely had to get to the point that I could say it. It feels good, it really does. Hehe it's almost like in High School when you're a freshman and you offer money for gas to the senior who is driving you around. They say "absolutely not. you repay me by driving freshmen home when you are a senior" It's that special torch that comes along with the necessary jingly things attached to my belt.

7.5 hours until viking chant. I love this business.
