vacation has been laid back and somewhat lackluster. i think it's exactly what i had in mind.
san fran was fun. highlights included playing with my niece in golden gate park, happy hour with my old boss, bbq on the bay, hugs from big brother, thinking that walking all the way up haight was a good idea, and getting brinner (brunch for dinner at 3:00 am) after dancing lesbian night in the castro.
highlights of merced include... seeing inception. sorry, not that cool of a town. the babies are only fun until they wake you up way too early in the morning several times in a row.
since i've been in seattle, my little bro has been in jail on a bail forfeiture after his dui and i have had digestive problems. to be frank, i haven't pooped properly in days and i'm kind concerned. unfortunately, i can't find anyone to take my nyc insurance, and that is annoying.
besides that, though, i don't want to complain. i've had so much fun just hanging out, hitting up the old haunts, going to the beach, and marveling at the natural beauty that is the pacific northwest. i feel somewhat excited and confident in the decision to move back here in a few years, i don't know why i'd do anything else.
pretty much, let me sum it up with a conversation i had with colleen while riding on the burke gilman and overlooking the lake.
"holy crap, seattle is so amazing."
"well, new york is pretty too, isn't it?"
"i mean, yeah, it's pretty cool, but nothing like this. i mean, you can overlook the hudson and see jersey off in the distance, but then instead of capitol hill, it's jersey, and instead of lake union, it's the hudson."
"i got you."
