I see a few movies that could work for you...
First I thought of The Wiz - a kind of adult version of the Wizard of Oz. It's mainly a story about the adult Diana Ross -Dorothy gaining confidence and becoming stronger. It could also be seen as the whole movie taking place in her mind, since it's pretty abstract and a bit psychedelic. It also features a lot of dancing and groovy music with some orchestral parts, too.

The other I though of was Dancer in the Dark - another growth movie, but typically to Trier the ending isn't as happy as in The Wiz. This story is way more provocative and also a bit more sensual, it's certainly not a lovestory but love is a central part of the film, especially parental love.

It's really hard to decide but I think I'll go with Dancer in The Dark, since the way you describe the movie and yourself really fits Björks character in the movie.

Also, remember that you're allowed to have only one open application at a time. But since you already have 4 votes for the same person in your other app, I'm gonna go ( ... )

Overall, I think I'm going to choose The Wiz...though I see a few others as well. As messageinabottle mentioned, it could be seen as a musical taking place in the main character's mind and is abstract, features dancing, and for the other reasons mentioned above. The Wiz is my vote.

Unoriginal, but I can see a more mature version of The Wiz, especially in your x/o markers. Also, how you described yourself as your own worst enemy even sort of fits as it wasn't necessarily a "real" situation she was experiencing.
