i can't even get into all the details of this trip. but, this is a start... i took like, 6 rolls of film... i got so many amazing photo op's.... i was in southern ill. so everything was all blah, farms, feilds, etc. then i decided to drive around for a little while (turned out to be about 5 hours) and we jsut....drove. we looked. i decided what the hey, lets stop NOW. so we did. we pulled over and started exploreing. we found an abandoned auto shop, w/ busted up cars, took lots of pics, then i walked down the road, and i found a closed up shop. i went in, then around the back..... it was an abandoned greenhouse. actually, about 6 of them. abandoned. the windows (mostly) blown out, but the coolest part, well, imagine what would happen if you left all of the plants in a greenhouse (perfect growing conditions) for 30 yrs? you guessed it. it exploded with life. teh plants were in control now. like, in the area of a football feild, you couldn't see the ground at all b/c of all the ivy. all different kinds. there were these garden variety ferns taht had just exploded, covering huge areas, like, rooms and rooms of jungle. the walls, ceiling and beams, jsut covered in plants. it was amazing. it was beyond belief. intertwinded with this beautiful nature was old, rusted over tools, winches, hammers, saws, it was like someone had tried to conqure it, only to be swalloed by it. it was jsut so surreal. i couldn't belive my eyes. the whole time your their, you feel like somthing is going to scream, or cry out and take you away. it was errie. like, the place was alive, and you wern't supposed to be there...
i'm going to turn this place, this experince into a fiction short story. i can't wait....
the other places we went were also cool, but i'll get into that later. it was some old old old barns (like, 150 yr old) that were like, falling apart and stuff, it was liek stepping into history. it was so cool. plus teh hikes through high cliffs, rock climbing and seeing jsut how awesome some of nature is, even in a plain place like ills. it's jsut not the kinda place u expect to go to to find the beauty of nature. but i sure as hell did. it was amazing. i can't wait to go back.
i can still smell campfire... fall leaves and the chilled afternoon air on top on a hill, looking back at everything you have done, looking forward to whats going to happen next. it's just amazing...
