For our group project we chose to target how development has affected the environment. We wanted our video to showcase how the mentality of Filipinos contributed to how we are experiencing backlash from the environment. I think that the environment is also our responsibility. If we want to have a sustainable development, we should keep in mind that our environment plays an important role. This is because our resources come from nature. If we just let everything be used up with no replacement, what will the future generations use? It is up to us to be disciplined on how we treat the environment. Thus, with our group project, we not only tried to advocate our views to the “educated” people but to the Filipino masses as well. We thought that maybe most of the Filipinos do not understand the implications of their undisciplined actions to the environment that is why we used the Filipino language in our video to give more impact. What I also like about our video project was how we challenged Filipinos to think first before throwing their trash carelessly. It’s important to reiterate that a small act could lead to big disasters. Just like how in the past years, one of the causes of deaths during typhoons are flashfloods. Most of the time flashfloods are caused by blocked canals/drainage systems due to trash or garbage. People tend to forget that throwing trash in the proper trash bins is very important. That is why our tagline for the project is Isipin Mo! Mag-isip muna bago magtapon. Use your head peeps! Wag basta basta. J
