Joe Walsh, guitarist for The Eagles, once played the oboe and the clarinet; later, he picked up the guitar while attending Kent State University.
"I want my MTV." That is Sting's voice heard accompanying Mark Knopfler on the vocal for the Dire Staits' song "Money for Nothing". Sting was also in a Broadway revival of "The Threepenny Opera" in 1989.
"Mama" Cass Elliot of The Mamas & Papas had headed to New York to make it as a Broadway star before joining the group. She did appear in some touring productions of "The Music Man".
