So, it looks like we'll be moving back to Minnesota sooner than we had planned, but when it's time to go it's time to go. Things here are just too stupid.
It's been one thing after another with our apartment. Shortly after we moved in our water heater rusted out so they replaced it. Then a few weeks ago our bathroom sink started leaking. It was just dripping a little so they said oh we'll get to it first thing Monday morning. But apparently it flooded three units below us so they fixed it that Saturday afternoon. Then there's the gates that don't work properly. We're nowhere near rich enough to be a gated community anyway. :/ we don't have an assigned parking spot either; apparently the awning where our spot is supposed to be collapsed in a snowstorm last winter @_@ and they haven't replaced it yet.
And on top of all that we ended up getting bedbugs from another unit. We started getting bites a few weeks ago but didn't think anything of it because we thought we were just getting chewed up by bugs when we'd go out birding. But then the other night we felt a couple crawling on us when we were trying to go to sleep and we saw them. But the good news is we caught them soon enough that pest control said we shouldn't have to throw anything out. The funny thing about that was Ozzy even tried to tell us: he usually will lie down and sleep between us, but last week he wouldn't do it and kept trying to wake us up. Like 'hey hoomans, get up and do something about these bugs!' But we thought he was just doing it for attention. Now he's back to sleeping between us, at least for part of the night. He's a pretty smart cat.
It's hard to get much of a sense of how a place really is until you live there for a while though. I really hate how none of the apartments here have lights in the bedrooms too; you have to supply your own.
Drivers are getting stupider every day too. We almost got in an accident again last night going to the grocery store because some fucktard pulled out into our lane without looking.
Work is going ok, but I hate working with Matt because he sucks at his job and complains all the time and never wants to do extra cleaning.
Two things I know: they'll never make me head baker, and I'll never be able to get a car as long as we stay here. There's a saying that if you're a woman or minority you have to work twice as hard as the white male counterpart to be considered half as good; boy is that ever true here.
What it all comes down to is it's just too expensive for us to be on our own here and there's nowhere else we can go. I wish we could wait until Eric has his Associates degree but I just don't think we can make it. We've had to get the car fixed a lot recently too.
