Finally set up my USB record player to the new iMac (and with the new desktop I bought recently I actually have room for it on my desk! I like how it fits nicely over-top my computer) It's working like a dream, and I can now play all my Gowan records again! What I've been noticing with my Mac is that a lot of the dual-compatible hardware that I have, such as my printer and my record player, came with 2 different sets of software for Windows and Mac but the Mac versions of the software are so much more basic and simple to use without being bloated by huge suites and unnecessary graphics.
Truth be told, when I had my record player hooked up to my PC I didn't use it all that much because it was such a hassle loading up the software in order to hear the audio stream and after awhile I couldn't even get that to work anymore because the software wasn't really designed to let you just listen to a record without recording it. The Mac version is easy, I just turn it on and I can listen to the streaming record audio without having to press record and pause. I also like simple interface. Record, Don't Record.
Things like this really make me happy. I was really considering chucking my record collection out of frustration, but I think now I'll just dive in and enjoy them instead.
