(no subject)

I've been keeping tabs on LJ because I'm mostly posting my lyrics on a Diary setting so I have access to them anywhere (with the "hwuh" sound on the beginning of "where")

Apologies to Robin for looking too quickly thru her LJ and not noticing a Presidential mention

Today I was looking up videos. There was a Kate Nash video and people were like "her music's PERFECT!"

*Shudder* NO music should be "perfect." Fuck You, YouTube Poster!

We all know that perfection is subjective, no?

Remember back in the day when we're like "That Person's Attractive, HENCE their music is GREAT!"
Not true, goddamnit. We know it, yet some perpetuate otherwise.
I have this friend, Karrah, who everyone thinks is "The Bee's Knees" when it comes to musicians.
She's really cool, and is a good songwriter. I know what I like about her, and it's funny to hear why other people like her...the REASONS behind it...
In one case, I know it's because "she's a girl who plays guitar!" *shudder*
So? I know LOTS of people who play guitar, boys AND girls, and that is NOT a valid reason!
I actually do get a charge out of females who write and perform their own music ONLY because it was not accepted so much until the latter parts of this last century. I can respect that, but not as "the reason why I like this person."

Then again, I suppose a person could like my band because "It's four guys, who all look good!" which is something Jessica from Boulder said once.
Ok, I guess I can appreciate that on personal level.
Just saying I don't think a person's racial and sexual defaults should be the defining factor of respect for them. I think it's what they do outside of those boundaries that makes them wonderful.

Maybe I've just been too about that ABC show "True Beauty." Crappy reality television at it's most thought provoking!

Ok, I'm done complaining for the afternoon.
