Welcome to the first live blog of the Season. Not much to say about the opening number because I missed it cause I forgot the show was on tonight for various reasons. In fact, the only reason I have time to blog this is because I'm off from work tomorrow but more on that another time.

Ten Girls, Ten Guys, All Together They're More Fun Than a Barrel of Monkeys )
1. I really loved Phillip and Jeane on the second viewing, a lot. It was very emotional, and as Adam said Phillip was a great partner. I think dancing with that friend of his really gave him a leg up, because partnering is often a new skill for the hip hop dancers.
2. It's so hard when the dancers get a bad Tyce b'way routine because then all they have is personality. To be fair, in my head I'm seeing the Chicago routine for that song, which is much more high energy, but you'd think he would get people to do something other than running around the stage. That said, they didn't really bring it. I worry that Vitolio will have that non-American black male dancer problem of too much dignity to show off his personality and really connect with the viewers.
3. Too much song-the song was really distracting and I thought working against the dance. And I agree that the outfits were weird-again, too graphic and working against the dance. I think they can step it up next week, though, because they were good, and have been scared by the bottom three.
4. I've already seen icons around from this routine-Evan is SO popular with the fans and for good reason. And Randi was adorable! I wish Tyce would only do jazz routines because they're so much better. I don't know if you can have more life than G&C, but they definitely have as much, and they are more professional. They're definitely my favorite couple! (Also reminder that I need to pick up more Jamie Callum!)
5. Everyone's said what needed to be said about Paris and Tony. Never mind the solos; even watching the routines theirs was the poorest in terms of not realizing the potential of the choreography. (That said, I hope it's the last time we hear that song!)
6. I know what you mean about Caitlyn's costume, but I think the producers didn't want to cover her legs. Lame but I can see them deciding that, though they should have gone for a a less contrasting color in her shorts if we were going to see them that much. It wasn't as good as last year, but hadn't they done the group number before they did the couple routine? So it wasn't their very very first time. I also liked their chemistry a lot.
7. Janette and Branden were really lovely. I love that Branden is very confident without being arrogant or cocky, and Janette has a lovely way about her. They were so strong, and that lift at the end was sick! So classy. Another favorite couple for me. (And with her ability to pick up ballroom so quickly plus her Latin background, if she does well she could be a good DWTS partner.)
8. Talk about someone who wasn't in the earlier eps showing personality plus! I expected this routine to be right up Kupono's alley and it definitely was, but Ashley was ADORABLE and fantastic. A very Marksea-like couple, with the quirky guy and the pretty girl. And we always love to see a Wade routine!
9. A little distracted by the terrible song, NGL. I see what you mean by Melissa not being loose enough yet, but I agree that she'll get there, and Ade was better than I thought he was going to be, a great partner. But yeah, really beautiful.
10. Max could also show up on DWTS, because he was so generous to Kayla, so good at just showing her off and letting her shine. I think he is a little more fluid than Pasha and Dmitri, but that might do well for him in other styles, and I think he just is a more fluid dancer. He definitely has their appeal, in that he's handsome enough and fun.
I love that Nigel went out of his way to talk up the dancers we hadn't seen much of in the auditions/Vegas week-though that was his decision, so six of one, etc.
