Travelogues: California & Las Vegas
November 14 trip -> Nov 20 Trip to San Franscisco
Friday: flight to Oakland, CA with a stop in Phoenix airport, where I had a pretty decent carnitas burrito
-picked up by a friend, J, and stayed at her lovely house in Fairfield
Saturday:
-visited Sonoma - Cline Winery where they had tasty olive oil and mustard
-Brunch and an Itz-it ice cream sandwich for the first time
Sunday:
-drove to Monterey Bay and visited the aquarium there - very good one, with fun touch tanks
-Also visited the Almedon Mining Museum, which was interesting in learning about mercury mining
Monday:
-went to Alcatraz Island with BFF M, which was very excellent. Ai Wei Wei had a great art exhibit there, and the museum it had a very good audio tour. Plus, it wasn't too crowded and the weather was great.
-Ate at Oola in SF - tapas
-Visited the SF Zoo, which was fun
Tuesday: visited Mountain View
-visited the downtown and had excellent boba
-Went to a concert at the Regency with frausorge, whom I finally met in person after all these years!
-Ate at an Afghan restaurant for the first time
Also popped up to Las Vegas for a few days to see Cirque Du Soleil in December. Ate at a lot of buffets, wandered around, visited Fremont Street and the Mob Museum. The shows I've seen:
-Cirque du Soleil: Ka
-Cirque du Soleil: Mystere
-Cirque du Soleil: Criss Angel
-Cirque du Soleil: O
-La Reve
-Penn & Teller
So, a lot of good shows and an overall good time in Las Vegas.
