BOSTON:
FRIDAY -
-Took the Amtrak regional train to Boston for a weekend trip because it was on a great sale. It's not as fast or as nice as the Acela Express, but it was still pretty decent.
-Met up with
jewelianna for a fun dinner at Fire & Ice, a Mongolian grill style restaurant, and then had a delicious salted honey caramel molten chocolate cake at Finale. A fun night with good company and good food!
-Tried Airbnb for the first time in a cute apartment conveniently located in the Back Bay area, which was very close to the Amtrak station.
SATURDAY:
-Weather was nice, warm, so I took a walk to a brunch place the host recommended, The Beehive. It was a fun ambiance with live jazz playing. I had delicious truffled potato pierogis with homemade sour cream and coffee. Excellent, would definitely return for more next time I'm in Boston.
-I finally got to take my long awaited Boston Duck Tour. I learned about some of Boston's history and how much of it, like New York, is made from landfill.
-I took a walk around Boston Commons, which was in full bloom and beautiful, then walked around Copley Square, the fancy Restoration Hardware in the former building of the Natural History Museum.
-I had dinner at Piattini's, which was a solid spinach gnocchi, and then stopped into Bacco's Fine Foods for my favorite honey and almond macaroons. I also picked up some maple sugar flavored chocolate.
-Last stop on the food train was Flour Bakery, where I had a creme brulee and a chocolate tart.
SUNDAY:
-I picked up a tasty spanish latte and a sunrise breakfast sandwhich from Pavement Coffeehouse, then took the train back to NYC.
-I ran back to my apartment to drop off my things, then finished off my day in NYC with a magic show featuring Ivan Amodai (sp?) at the Roosevelt Hotel.
