I thought it'd be better than sitting home alone. But it's not.

Oh man, I am exhausted. Pooped, if you will. Long day at work, blah blah. Let's talk about the fun stuff instead.

This past weekend, I went to Fire Island for the first time. The route there is surprisingly elaborate (subway to LIRR to transfer to another LIRR to van to ferry) and rather costly for an island that is not a significant distance away. However, expense aside, the trip was very fun. I met up with A and we traipsed through the cutesy town for a bit before hitting the beach. The beach was very clean, pretty, and had a lot of naked (like, fully naked) people on it sunbathing. That's cool, I guess. Boobies and peepees for all.

After lounging on the beach for a while, we ate delicious hamburgers at a restaurant called Floyd's, I got ice cream, and we hit the beach again. For dinner we went to a place called Cherry's, which had an upstairs open porch overlooking the attached outdoor bar. So while we ate, dance music was playing and we could peer over the railing to watch the delightful and delightfully awkward courtship rituals of the dancefloor. After dinner, we headed over to the dancefloor ourself and danced for a little over an hour before reluctantly heading back onto the ferry and training it all the way home. Overall, fun times and a nice new experience.

On Sunday, I went to my Zumba class and had a good time. It's reminded me of how out of shape I am and hopefully is helping to whip me back into shape. I thought about going to this salsa event but it turned out one high intensity dancing hour is enough to make me long for nothing but sweet relaxation the whole rest of the day.

A few TV bits:
Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List - I continue to love this show. She is hilarious. Enough said.

Dollhouse - the unaired episode Epitaph One may be the most important unaired episode ever. For reasons too complicated to explain, it seems that Fox is not going to air this so anyone interested in Dollhouse (there must be a few of you diehard Whedonites on my flist), you should definitely find a way to watch this through... other means. It's a total gamechanger of an episode and a hell of a lot better than the rest of the season preceding it.

Kings - I'm sad that there will be no more of that stunning cinematography and visual style, and even the sometimes over the top dialogue. I'm sad there will be no more Ian McShane or the rest of the highly talented cast. I am not sad, however, that there will be no more David or his love interest Michelle gracing my screen--portrayed by the least interesting and least capable actors on the show (which, considering rest of the cast, is pretty hard to live up to admittedly). But gah, the lovely dovey angsty scenes between David and the princess made me alternate between wanting to vomit (because the grand dialogue just sounds awful when delivered by someone who has no passion behind it) or fall asleep (because they were both such mindnumbingly boring actors I could feel my consciousness drifting in a sea of banality). I knew this show was never going to last, in part because NBC was completely incapable of effectively marketing it, but it would have been a hard sell on any network. It was nice while it lasted.
